  Share Your Health Records

After December 15th, once a Veteran signs the VA Form 10-0485 Authorization Form, VA will be able to share health information with their participating community care providers for a period of 10 years.

Connecting your docs with the Veterans Health Information Exchange (VHIE), also known as the Virtual Lifetime Electronic Record (VLER) Health program shares important parts of your Veteran health record between the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and your community health care providers who participate in this program.

This allows your health care providers to access important information about your health and provide you the best possible care. This exchange occurs over a secure and private network known as the eHealth Exchange.

Military & Veteran Discounts Guide: The Ultimate List of Stores

The Dealhack Military Discount Guide is the result of our quarterly survey of brands that offer active-duty military and veteran discounts. Every three months, they independently verify each and every store on this list.

The list is then conveniently broken down into categories, and can also be saved in PDF form and used as the ultimate reference guide for active military and veteran discounts.

   Reflections on EN2 Hahn's
U.S. Coast Guard Service

WHETHER YOU WERE IN THE SERVICE FOR SEVERAL YEARS OR AS A CAREER, PLEASE DESCRIBE THE DIRECTION OR PATH YOU TOOK. WHAT WAS YOUR REASON FOR LEAVING?

Having been exposed to the Coast Guard over the years as I was growing up, it was through trips to the New Jersey shores, Atlantic City, Ocean City etc. that I saw the results of the Coast Guards activities and they were exciting to me. I also made many trips  to Washington State Park where the Colonials crossed the Delaware to fight the battle of Trenton on Christmas Eve. I was always just captivated by the earlier events of the Delaware River and in general the water. My exposure to this organization increased while I was growing up and as I approached high school graduation in 1964 and the requirement to register with the draft, I began to discuss what options existed for me after school. Financially, college was not an option as by then I had 4 brothers and two sisters all younger than me along with an older brother whom would probably get the first choice if the college did become an option.

I left for Cape May Boot Camp from the Bristol, Pa. selective service registration office on November 8, 1965, my youngest brother Tim's 7th birthday, and began a cycle that was to help guide and direct me for the remainder of my life and career.

Book of the Month

After retiring with over 25 years of active military service Ed Semler was routinely sought out for "words of wisdom" from prospective Chiefs participating in the Chiefs Initiation. Feeling that providing the new Chief with just a few lines on a Charge Sheet was doing them an injustice, he decided to put together his advice on becoming a well-rounded Chief Petty Officer. This book details his thoughts and experiences, both good and bad, that helped him through his career.

From our National President:

On April 7, 2019, the CPOA will celebrate 50 years of service to our fellow Chiefs, our Coast Guard Family and our Communities.  To mark this momentous occasion, the Ad Hoc 50th Anniversary Committee plans to sell a variety of mementos to provide fundraising support for the Birthday events.  To that end, I hereby announce a LOGO CONTEST to select the logo to be used for the entire year of Celebration.  The logo will be used on one side of a 50th Anniversary coin, as well as on other items as decided by the Ad Hoc 50th Anniversary Committee.  The criteria for the Logo Contest can be found here...
