Calling All Artists: National Veterans Day Poster Contest

Each year the VA's National Veterans Outreach Office, in conjunction with the Veterans Day National Committee, publishes a commemorative Veterans Day poster. The poster is selected from artwork submitted by artists nationwide and is distributed to VA facilities, military installations around the world across cities and town in our nation.  It also serves as the cover of the official program for the Veterans Day Observance at Arlington National Cemetery.

Over the years these posters have illustrated the rich history of our country's service men and women.  The poster clearly reflects our pride and patriotism in saluting Veterans while providing the thematic artistry for the year.

From our National President:

On April 7, 2019, the CPOA will celebrate 50 years of service to our fellow Chiefs, our Coast Guard Family and our Communities.  To mark this momentous occasion, the Ad Hoc 50th Anniversary Committee plans to sell a variety of mementos to provide fundraising support for the Birthday events.  To that end, I hereby announce a LOGO CONTEST to select the logo to be used for the entire year of Celebration.  The logo will be used on one side of a 50th Anniversary coin, as well as on other items as decided by the Ad Hoc 50th Anniversary Committee.  The criteria for the Logo Contest can be found here...

Book of the Month

During the Vietnam war 3500 officers and men served in the Swift Boat program in a fleet of 130 boats with no armor plating. The boats patrolled the coast and rivers of South Vietnam, with the average age of the crew being twenty-four. Their days consisted of deadly combat, intense lightning firefights, storms and many hidden dangers.

This action-packed story of combat written by Dan Daly, a Vietnam combat veteran who was the Officer in Charge of PCF 76 makes you part of the Swift Boat crew. The six man crew of PCF 76 were volunteers from all over the United States, eager to serve their country in a unique type of duty not seen since the PT boats of WWII. This inexperienced and disparate group of men would meld into a combat team - a team that formed an unbreakable, lifelong bond.
