Air Mobility Command Reopens Space-Available Travel
As of 22 April 2022, all restrictions on space-available (Space-A) travel have been lifted.
The Office of the Under Secretary of Defense temporarily suspended most Space-A travel aboard Air Mobility Command and contracted aircraft, effective March 21, 2020 in order to limit COVID-19’s spread and impact on the force.
This reopening permits Space-A travel for uniformed service members, retirees, dependents, and reservists to travel within the continental United States and outside the continental United States if space allows.

Updates to the Tattoo, Body Marking, Body Piercing, and Mutilation Standards
The Coast Guard has updated its body marking policy to include tattoo placement, body branding, and micro-blading.
“We see the importance of evolving our service policy to reflect the times in which we live,” said Capt. Anthony Williams, Acting Director of Military Personnel. “As a service, we support our members in their ability to express themselves while at the same time maintaining a sharp and professional military appearance to the public we serve.”

On December 17, 2000, Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City, North Carolina, performed one of the most heroic rescues in the history of the service. The cruise ship SeaBreeze I was listing, battered by hurricane-force winds and thirty-five-foot seas. The ship and the lives of its thirty-four crewmen were in imminent peril.
A rescue helicopter arrived and, seeing that the vessel could capsize at any moment, hoisted twenty-six of the crew to safety, a record for a single helicopter rescue. A second helicopter, designated for the celebration of the Wright brothers' first flight, arrived on scene in time to rescue the remaining crew.
Rear Admiral Carlton Moore tells the complete history of this daring rescue, including never-before-printed radio messages from the rescuers.

These unprecedented times are contributing to a higher level of anxiety, particularly among our Veteran population. The constant flow of often discouraging news, along with a reduced ability to mingle with others to keep spirits up, makes it difficult for some to maintain their morale. TogetherWeServed, a military heritage community website and home to over 1.9 million U.S. Military Veterans, wants to help.
A secure virtual base for Veterans
During a Veteran’s military service, their base, ship or shore station is place to call home – a safe haven to share in the company of some of the finest men and women with a mission in common. Together We Served (TWS) aims to replicate that same spirit of brotherhood and sisterhood in its own “Virtual Base” website.
With its membership containing only active serving and Veterans, TWS provides a secure platform for all Veterans to engage with other Veterans on a level that is simply not possible in most social networking environments.
Family of deceased Coast Guard members who wish to join CGTWS to create a Remembrance Profile for their loved one should email admin@togetherweserved.com.
