The presenters will review the core elements of monitoring agreements, emphasizing what medical staff/medical groups should understand when preparing and implementing such an agreement.

The presenters will review specific elements from four documents:

• CPPPH Guideline on Monitoring (in preparation)
• CPPPH Guideline on Drug Testing (2023)
• Federation of State Physician Health Program Guidelines (2019)
• Medical Board of California Proposed Regulations for the operation of its new Physician Health and Wellness Program

The second half of the session will be reserved for questions and answers.

Early bird rate: $150 for the first person and a reduced fee of $125 for up to two additional persons from the same hospital or organization registering at the same time on the same registration form.

Early bird rate closes December 4. On Tuesday, December 5, registration fee is $185 per person with reduced fee of $145 for up to two additional persons.

Cancellation and refunds: For cancellations received by email before December 5, the registration can be transferred to a future program or full refunds can be made. No refunds will be made after December 5.

This course has been approved for 1.50 National Association of Medical Staff Services (NAMSS) continuing education credits. Accreditation of this educational content in no way implies endorsement or sponsorship by NAMSS.

The AAFP has reviewed Monitoring, Drug Testing and MBC Proposed Program and deemed it acceptable for up to 1.50 Live AAFP Prescribed credits. Term of Approval is from 12/13/2023 to 12/13/2023. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

• substance use / addiction.
• mental health/psychiatric diagnosis.
• behavior outside of the medical staff’s code of conduct.
• Describe what elements in the records of monitoring remain confidential and protected by Ev. Code Sec. 1157.
