Central Pines Regional Council to Hold Community Climate Conversations

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

January 12, 2024

Central Pines Regional Council (CPRC) invites the public to attend Community Climate Conversations, to be held in four locations throughout the region. CPRC was awarded a Climate Pollution Reduction Grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to develop a Climate Action Plan for the region. The plan will be developed in two phases: a Priority Climate Action Plan will be completed by February 2024, and the full Climate Action Plan will be prepared by Fall 2025. CPRC will be hosting four identical Community Climate Conversation sessions to engage the community and incorporate community members’ input into the planning process. The counties covered in this grant include: Chatham, Durham, Franklin, Granville, Johnston, Orange, Person, and Wake.

“We really want folks to come on out! These meetings will allow us to have a conversation and hear from you—not just to talk about health, air pollution, and climate change, but also to hear what people want to see that our community is doing about these problems. Are there ways to tackle these issues that will also bring other benefits to our area, like money and jobs?” says Emily Barrett, CPRC’s contact for the program.
