A MESSAGE FROM THE DEAN

Dear CPS Community and Friends,

I hope this message finds you in good health.

First and foremost, I want to address recent incidents that have deeply impacted our campus community. We must confront these issues with unwavering resolve and a steadfast commitment to the principles that form the foundation of our university.

We stand united against violating these policies and are determined to foster an environment of safety, trust, and respect. Our collective responsibility is to ensure that every student can thrive without fear and that our campus remains where all individuals are valued and protected. As our college stated yesterday, GW is reviewing this incident and will take appropriate steps in accordance with university policies.

As we navigate this ever-evolving landscape together, I am heartened by the enthusiasm and dedication displayed by our college community. Your passion for education and unwavering commitment to shaping the future make our college exceptional. It is through your collective efforts that we will continue to achieve greatness.

I encourage everyone to embrace the opportunities for engagement and collaboration that our college provides. Together, we can overcome challenges, effect positive change, and create an environment where all community members can flourish and succeed.

I extend my deepest gratitude for your unwavering dedication and support. Together, we will forge a brighter future for our college, ensuring it remains a place where knowledge, integrity, and safety are held in the highest regard.

With heartfelt appreciation,

Matthew Weil and Chuck Todd

At GSPM’s annual Fahrenkopf-Manatt Lecture, Matthew Weil, executive director of the Bipartisan Policy Center (BPC), and NBC’s chief political analyst, Charles “Chuck” Todd, Hon. ’22, talked of bipartisanship. They provided compelling insights into the current state of American democracy and political engagement, highlighting two key takeaways that left attendees both hopeful and inspired.

Despite the concerning rise in polarization and authoritarian tendencies, the lecture emphasized the grounds for optimism regarding the resilience of democracy in the United States. Amidst these challenges, there is a belief in the potential for a return to political bipartisanship, suggesting that unity can prevail over division.

Furthermore, the event underscored the vibrant atmosphere at the Graduate School of Political Management, showcasing a remarkable level of energy and enthusiasm surrounding political discourse. This passionate engagement signifies a promising future for informed and active citizenship within the university community.
