CPS HAPPENINGS
Tips for an Excellent Summer Semester
  1. Establish a relationship with your Professors. Faculty at Villanova are experts in their fields and research, but they also love teaching and want to connect with their students! Take advantage of this opportunity to get to know your faculty. Send an introductory email before class starts, let them know who you are, what you do, why you are excited about their class. This sets the right tone for moving forward, enhances your learning experience and develops a relationship that can bring long term benefits; think recommendation letters for graduate school.
  2. Time Management. Summer Sessions are compressed. Planning out your time to read, study and prepare for class is essential in getting everything done on time. Invest in a paper planner or utilize your google calendar. As soon as you get your syllabus put everything down and plan out the time you will need to accomplish the requirements of your classes. This will not only keep you organized, but for some students, knowing the work is planned out ahead of time helps alleviate anxiety.
  3. Form a Study Team. In this new virtual world, our virtual connections can seem distant. Consider forming a study group to gather virtually on a regular basis to discuss your readings and study together.
  4. Utilize University Resources. Although we are online this summer, our offices of Learning Support Services, Tutoring, Falvey Memorial Library are all open virtually. Take advantage of these free resources!
  5. Wear Sunscreen!

Remember, the CPS Advising Team stands ready to assist you in any way we can, please reach out to us if we can be of help. I wish you a summer semester that is intellectually challenging and fulfilling and hope to see you on campus in the Fall!

Warm regards,
