Did you know that 40% of school-age children need glasses? Do yours?

Chances are that your child/children do, at least according to the American Academy of Ophthalmology.  “When Gen Xers were young in the '70s, about 20% of children in the United States needed glasses. Now that number has inched closer to 40%", said Dr. David Epley, a clinical spokesman for the Academy. Given the abundance of time children have spent in front of screens the past few years during the lockdown that statistic makes sense. Besides your child focusing on a small screen, most of their screen activity takes place indoors. Conversely, recent studies show that natural sunlight appears to stabilize vision—even if your child has a lot of screen time. So, the combination of screen time and lack of sunlight can have a real impact on your child’s vision.

Given all those factors there’s no better time than the present to get your child’s vision checked, whether your child is new to glasses or needs an upgrade to their existing pair.
