Summer is coming to an end and the kids will be back in school
soon. The temperature will start to cool down and the fall season
will be here before we know it.
Our Fall Rec Guide is out and filled with many great fun programs
and activities for the entire family. This year we are celebrati   ng 10
years of the CRC! We have many fun events and activities planned.
Make sure to check the Fall Rec Guide for details.  
Membership Check in procedure

Beginning Wednesday August 1st, we will be requiring all members to check into the welcome desk using their CRC membership card or drivers license. We thank you in advance for your cooperation and patience with this membership procedure.

New Kids Club check in/out procedure
Beginning Sunday August 5th, we will be adding a secondary check i n/out procedure in kids club.  Each Parent/Guardian that brings in child(ren) will have a wrist band that matches EACH child they bring into Kids Club.  The parent/Guardian may not leave Kids Club with child(ren) without the matching wristband.  Kids Club staff will be checking all child(ren) in and out and verifying both wristbands match.  All parents/guardians must check into the welcome desk BEFORE checking into Kids Club.  For any questions about this procedure please contact Jessica Redfield at jessica.redfield@mhcrc.com
Upcoming Events 
August is Back to School Month at the CRC.  Join us for our Theme Friday on August 3rd for "School Pride Day."  Come to the CRC dressed in any school or college gear and be entered to win our back-to-school themed raffle prize!  In addition, we want to know where you're from.  We'll be putting pennants up around the building with your name and your school, join in on the fun!

Introducing Magical Bridge Playground in Morgan Hill

We are pleased to announce the Magical Bridge Playground is coming to Morgan Hill's Community Park . Join us as we build a new kind of community playground, one where everyone can play. Regardless of ability, disability, size or age - everyone will now be able to play together like never before! With an underlying message of kindness, Magical Bridge addresses the unique play needs of children and adults living with physical and cognitive disabilities, the hearing and visually impaired, the autistic population, our aging community, and even those who are medically fragile.

Fall 2018 Preschool 
Register now for Morgan Hill Recreation Preschool! Spaces are available in Afternoon Preschool for children ages 3 to 5. Class is held Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays from 12:30-3:30 pm at the Community & Cultural Center Children's Pavilion. Interested in learning more? Women's Locker Room
The women's locker room will be closed the 1st Friday of each month from 12-2pm for facility maintenance. We apologize for any inconvenience.

  • Volunteer Drivers Needed!  Looking for a volunteer opportunity? Do you have a couple hours a week and a safe vehicle to help Morgan Hill Seniors get to appointments, run errands, or get their groceries? The Get'n Around Town Volunteer Driver Program is looking for volunteers to participate in the Volunteer Driver Program. You can help seniors in Morgan Hill make the connection to the community!   • Volunteer Riders!  If you are a senior who needs rides to local doctor appointments, hair and nail appointments, the grocery store, or any other errands, please contact our Senior Center Welcome Desk at 408-782-1284 for more information about joining our Get'n Around Town program.

South County Lifelong Learning
New Almaden Mines:
Explore a geological and historical lesson about the New Almaden Mines, mercury contamination and abatement of abandoned mines. Meet Michael Cox, a geologist and historian, who has had extensive experience in the abatement of abandoned mines and the public education of mercury contamination in the South Bay.

Emergency Preparedness and Response:
Join Jennifer Ponce, Office of Emergency Services Coordinator, as she gives us an update on the City of Morgan Hill's emergency plan and preparedness.

Activate your creative juices in collaboration with professional theater artists and come play with us!  A little theater history, a little improv training, culminating in a staged reading....whether you love performing or just want to discuss a play, then this workshop is for you!  And...no memorization is required!  For the first seven weeks of the class, there will be literary  discussions and analysis of Shakespeare's work.  And during the last week of class, there will be a staged reading.  This Shake X-perience will be led by, John McCluggage, the former Associate Director at San Jose Repertory Theater.

Dave Stamey
Dave Stamey is a renowned artist, recently inducted into the Western Music Hall of Fame.  There's no effort in the way he carries his cowboy culture; it's just as real and American as the fields and ranches where he was raised.

Senior Fraud Prevention Seminar
Get informed about Elder Fraud, Auto & Workers' Comp Insurance Fraud happening in our community, and how to protect yourself.  All members of the public are invited to attend this free, informative event led by Deputy District Attorneys of the Bureau of Investigations.  This event is sponsored by Mike Wasserman, Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors, and Jeffrey F. Rosen, Santa Clara County District Attorney.

Did you know we provide delicious lunches to Older Adults Monday through Friday at 12:00pm. Please register by 11:30am, donation $3.00 for those over the age of 60, $8.00 for those under 60 years of age.
Other Support Services
Dementia Care Support Group-Friday, August 10th , 2:00-4:00pm
This class is facilitated by Tiffany Mikles with the Alzheimer's Association and is held at the CRC Senior Center in Activity Room #1.  This group meets on the 2nd Friday of every month for 2 hours. 
Senior Adult Legal Assistance (SALA):
Free appointments are available on August 9th and August 23rd.  You can make your appointment at the Senior Center Welcome Desk.
Health Insurance Counseling (HICAP):
Free appointments on August 10th and August 24th from 9 a.m. to noon by appointment only.  Please make an appointment at the Senior Center Welcome Desk.

Cooking With Kids
Saturday, 8/18 Time:  12pm - 1pm
This is a drop off program.  Children will learn how to make healthy and yummy lunch.  

Girls Club 
Friday, 8/3  Time:  5:30pm - 7:30pm
This is a drop off program.  One of the 41 Developmental  Assets will be covered  at each session.  Children will be making new friends and do creative activity.  They will learn about life skill and values, positive relationships, respecting yourself and others.  
Jewelry Making Class
Friday, 8/10   Time:  6pm-7pm
This is a drop off program.   Children will be taught how to make beautiful jewelry including bracelets and necklaces.

Boys Club

This is a drop off program.  One of the 41 Developmental Asset will be covered at each session.

Parents' Night Out
Saturday, 8/25  Time:  5pm - 10pm
This is a drop off program.  A fun night filled with swimming, dinner, game and crafts.

Use of the Morgan Hill Dennis Kennedy Aquatics Center
is included with your CRC Membership.  

 The Aquatic Center will be closed at 1:30pm on Friday, August 17th .  The following program will be cancelled that day, evening lap swim from 5pm to 9pm and shallow aqua fitness from 7:15pm to 8:15pm.

Synchronized Swimming will meet once a week on Tuesdays for the following ages:
Age 7-11:  4pm to 5pm
Age 12+:   5pm to 6pm
This will be a monthly membership set up like our Splash Swim Team.
Fee (in addition to a CRC membership)
$30 per month with Splash
$65 per month without Splash
We have starting long course swimming at the Aquatic Center on Wednesday's and Thursday's. The Competition pool will be configured to run 8 lanes all day run from 5am to 9am.
Lap Swim
Monday - Friday:  5am to 9am, 11am to 1:30pm
Monday/Wednesday/Friday:  5pm to 8pm
Saturday:  7am to 10am
Youth/Teen Corner
Youth Action Council (YAC) Socials
Teen Center

All YAC Socials are to be held every other month in the Teen Center from 6:30pm-8pm. Please check the Teen Center Calendar for the exact days. Free snacks and drink will be provided. Bring your friends.
YAC Monthly meetings are on the first Tuesday of the month from September of the current year to July of next year from 5-7pm in the Teen Center.

Young person experiences caring neighbors.
  • Be honest about your hopes and fears about your neighborhood. Discuss these with your family and some neighbors you trust.
  • Meet with a neighbor group or slowly start a small group if one doesn't exist. Do activities together, such as creating a community garden.
  • Spend time outdoors in your neighborhood where other neighbors are. Take walks or hang out on your front step.
Create a neighborhood welcome wagon of youth and adults.

Morgan Hill Community Asset Builders Meeting


Join us for our Morgan Hill Community Asset Builder Meetings on the 3rd Friday of each month starting at 12pm at the Community & Cultural Center. The purpose of these meetings is to provide opportunities for youth serving organizations and individuals to meet and collaborate on youth serving programs and initiatives and to educate our community on the Developmental Assets and other tools that can be used to help youth thrive.
