CRCA Advocacy Updates
CRCA at City of Chicago – The City passed an ordinance on April 10 adopting a modified version of the International Building Code (IBC). There have been several task groups working to mesh the Chicago Building Code into the IBC. The city was already successful in adopting the National Electrical Code. Watch the next CRCA Enews for a report on the developments in Chicago.

CRCA @ ICC – The International Energy Conservation Code will be debated at ICC’s Committee Action Hearings in Albuquerque, NM in early May. CRCA has proposals in focused at existing buildings. One proposal would provide relief to the building owner and manager when technical infeasibilities exist, from having to install min. R-30 continuous roof Insulation. Another aims to create a new definition and option for roof membrane replacement.

CRCA @ ARMA – CRCA presented the Chicago Energy Code and more at the Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association Meeting downtown. ARMA Members heard how Chicago is providing options for low slope roofs to be gravel or granular surfaced too.
