Regional Performance Incentive Program Grant Opportunity
Calling all towns to participate!  On December 18th, the CRCOG Policy Board passed a resolution to apply for Regional Performance Incentive Program (RPIP) Grants. All towns interested in participating or supporting, should pass a resolution by February in order to be eligible for the grants. The projects approved are: CRCOG Region-wide Planimetric Data, School-Municipal Back Office Consolidation CBA and Implementation Plan(s), TOD Marketing and Deal Structuring Assistance as well as an application for an economic development consultant for four towns.  Sample resolutions and descriptions can be found at:   https://crcog.org/2019/12/ rpip-grants /

Support Letters Needed!!
CRCOG to Become an Economic Development District
CRCOG received notice that its recently completed Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy, titled Metro Hartford Future, was approved by the U.S. Economic Development Administration. The approval lasts for five years and enables communities meeting certain requirements to apply for federal assistance with economic development projects. The next step is for CRCOG to apply to become an Economic Development District. Staff are currently working with towns to secure support letters for the application. CRCOG is required to have letters from a majority of the towns. Thus far, we have received letters from the following municipalities: Avon, Berlin, Bloomfield, Bolton, Columbia, Coventry, Glastonbury, East Granby, East Hartford, Farmington, Hartford, Manchester, New Britain, Plainville, Tolland, Wwst Hartford, Windsor Locks.

Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan Approved!
CRCOG was recently notified that the Federal Emergency management Agency (FEMA) gave formal approval of the 2019 – 2014 Capitol Region Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan Update on November 7th. The plan is effective until November 6, 2024. The plan details the risks our region faces from natural disasters such as hurricanes, winter storms, drought, tornadoes and earthquakes. It provides a list of actions each town and city in the region hopes to undertake in the upcoming five years to mitigate the effect of natural disasters on its community. With the approved plan in effect, towns and cities can apply to CT DEMHS for FEMA mitigation grants.
