On November 6-8th in Hartford CRCOG hosted the Lincoln Institute for Land Policy's Consortium for Scenario Planning Conference. CRCOG is a member of the Consortium for Scenario Planning and holds a seat on its Board of Directors. Lincoln Institute holds this conference annually in different cities around the country with the last two conferences being held in Denver, CO and Columbus, OH. The conference brings together attendees from across the country, from academic institutions, private companies, MPOs, cities and non-profit organizations. This year's conference brought nearly 80 people to Hartford and allowed CRCOG the opportunity to showcase the region - a CT
tour was a part of the agenda - as well as present a preliminary exercise conducted internally over the summer to get staff up to speed with utilizing the agency's newly acquired Urban Footprint tool. The Policy & Planning and Transportation Planning staff worked closely together to conduct this first foray into scenario planning and plans to finalize all results of this exercise over the coming weeks and looks forward to being able to incorporate this planning method into future planning efforts at CRCOG as well as offer scenario planning as a service to the region's municipalities.
