THANKS FOR A GREAT YEAR!

Protecting All Californians from Discrimination

The numbers 2024. Inside each number is a collage of various photos of staff at events.

We are feeling so much gratitude as we end 2024. In so many ways, this year was one of our best yet at CRD. From our first ever pride tour to new webinars and community partnerships, we're grateful to help empower Californians to exercise their civil rights. Below are a few accomplishments we are particularly proud of.

Reaching More Californians

From Northern California to the Southern border, our outreach team shared civil rights resources to more Californians than ever, visiting 64 cities at nearly 200 events across the state! We also expanded our monthly webinars to include resources for people with disabilities, reaching 1,625 Californians.

$95+ Million for Californians

From helping people keep their support animals to fighting for equal pay, our team investigated more than 5,500 discrimination complaints across California. Those efforts led to more than 800 settlements, with more than $95 million — and counting — in relief for Californians facing discrimination.

Connecting You with Support

Preliminary data in May from CA vs Hate's first year showed that the hotline got more than 2,000 requests from Californians and directed people to resources, regardless of whether a report was tied to an act of hate.

Our mission remains the same in 2025: protect the civil rights of all Californians. We're committed to helping give you the tools to fight discrimination in your community. This work would not be possible without the trust of people like you. We’re honored to help create a fairer and more inclusive California for all.

Increasing Access to State Jobs

Get a job with State of California: A guide to the Limited Employment & Appointment Program (LEAP).

The Limited Examination and Appointment Program (LEAP) is designed to help Californians with disabilities get jobs with the state. Instead of taking the traditional state civil service exam, you can show your knowledge and skills for a position through on-the-job testing. Learn more about LEAP on the CalHR LEAP page and click the video above for steps on how to begin the LEAP process.
