Showcase your research at the Undergraduate Research Symposium (URS) on April 1, 2025, in the Student Union Ballrooms! This annual event invites undergraduate students from all majors to share their research with the wider community. All students at any stage of the research process are eligible to apply!
Application deadline: February 20, 2025.

NOURISHING CREATIVITY HOUR

As part of the URS, students may also choose to participate in the Nourishing Creativity Hour. Selected students are able to feature a creative presentation of their choice, whether that be a short video, performance, art exhibition, etc.
There is a section in the URS application for students to express their interest in participating in the Nourishing Creativity Hour, or click this link to go directly to the survey application!

The Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP) provides first-year, second-year and transfer students an engaging community with the flexibility and funding opportunities to explore their full range of interests. You can join a community of hundreds of student researchers, including discipline-specific and transfer cohorts.

APPLY FOR ARTS AND SCIENCES FUNDING | |

The College of Arts and Sciences and the Division of Undergraduate Studies supports conference presentation funding through the administration of these grants. Undergraduate students from all College of Arts and Sciences disciplines are encouraged to apply.
Undergraduate students may apply for up to $500 to cover costs for conferences in their discipline (or a related discipline). Both virtual and in-person conferences are eligible for funding.
Rolling deadline, though you must submit this application at least 6 weeks prior to the conference at which you will be presenting (you may need to submit this earlier to ensure registration by conference deadline).
You will need to upload an itemized list of expenses as part of this application.

The Florida Undergraduate Research Leadership Summit (FURLS) is a meeting meant for undergraduate student research leaders to discuss student-led initiatives that enhance undergraduate research culture. Attendees come from schools all over the state of Florida, representing the breadth of undergraduate research programs across the state.
Bella and Sarah are UROP Leaders and UROP Support Class assistants, while Christine and Sofia are members of the Student Council for Undergraduate Research and Creativity (SCURC) under SGA.

FGLSAMP students volunteered at the Northwest Florida First LEGO League event. This event was hosted by Florida State University Schools to support STEM education and inspire future innovators. FGLSAMP students are required to complete 10 hours of STEM Education Service as part of the program.
The Florida Georgia Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (FGLSAMP) aims to increase the number of STEM baccalaureate and graduate degrees awarded to populations historically underrepresented, including African Americans, Hispanic Americans, American Indians, Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians, and Native Pacific Islanders. FGLSAMP aids with acclimation to the college environment, the social and academic integration of the undergraduate experience, and the engagement in research and internship opportunities.

FESTIVAL OF THE CREATIVE ARTS | |

Florida State University’s Office of Research is hosting the Festival of the Creative Arts, a campus-wide collaborative event highlighting the diverse voices, talents, and creativity of FSU faculty and students which continues to February 23.
Departments from across campus will celebrate the innovation and creative excellence that result from combining various modes of expression and subjects. All events are free of charge with no registration required!

Congratulations to Robbie Rice, Montserrat Zeron, and JP Romero Villalaz for making it as January 2025 Student Stars! FSU recognizes accomplished students from all over the university, and these three just so happen to be CRE students!
Robbie Rice is a Psychology major with the College of Arts and Sciences, graduating in Fall 2025. Rice was the recipient of an IDEA Grant for an Honors in the Major study investigating how escapism and suicidal ideation/thoughts are connected, done through a seres of focus groups and risk assessment surveys. Rice is motivated and dedicated to help others through his research, and has helped to develop safety plans for students in their moments of crisis.
Montserrat Zeron is an International Affairs major with the College of Social Sciences and Public Policy. Originally from Mexico City, Mexico, Zeron is a 2023 Global Scholar, 2023-2024 Social Science Scholar, and a 2024 Tyler Fellow. As the recipent of an IDEA Grant for her research on space diplomacy, Zeron has made a huge impact on FSU's campus through her involvement in research and community service.
Jose P. Romero Villalaz, or just 'JP', is a Biomedical Engineering major with the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering. Here at the FSU main campus from the Republic of Panama thanks to a 2+2 Scholarship, Romero Villalaz was the recepient of an IDEA Grant that allowed him to conduct research in microfluidics and aterial thrombosis Through this, he was able to work on the development of 3D-printed microfluidic chips that have the potential to save millions of dollars.
