APPLY TO PRESENT AT THE
NOURISHING CREATIVITY HOUR

As part of the URS, students may also choose to participate in the Nourishing Creativity Hour. Selected students are able to feature a creative presentation of their choice, whether that be a short video, performance, art exhibition, etc.
There is a section in the URS application for students to express their interest in participating in the Nourishing Creativity Hour, or click this link to go directly to the survey application!

Applications for the Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program are OPEN.
The Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP) provides first-year, second-year, and transfer students an engaging community with the flexibility and funding opportunities to explore their full range of interests. You can join a community of hundreds of student researchers, including discipline-specific and transfer cohorts.

APPLY FOR ARTS AND SCIENCES FUNDING | |

The College of Arts and Sciences and the Division of Undergraduate Studies supports conference presentation funding through the administration of these grants. Undergraduate students from all College of Arts and Sciences disciplines are encouraged to apply.
Undergraduate students may apply for up to $500 to cover costs for conferences in their discipline (or a related discipline). Both virtual and in-person conferences are eligible for funding.
Rolling deadline, though you must submit this application at least 6 weeks prior to the conference at which you will be presenting (you may need to submit this earlier to ensure registration by conference deadline).
You will need to upload an itemized list of expenses as part of this application.

Bringing Anthropology to Life:
The UROP Experience with Dr. Kowal

UROP is an amazing program that allows new undergraduate students at Florida State the chance to conduct research, providing ample funding, flexibility, and assistance.
Dr. Amy Kowal is not just a professor here at FSU, but a UROP mentor as well, who does amazing things with her students' research! With students from her Museum Anthropology class, Dr. Kowal brings the anthropological work of her UROP students to life as exihibits located in the Carrway building, available for anyone to see.

The Florida Undergraduate Research Conference (FURC) is one of the largest multidisciplinary undergraduate research conferences in the country. Along with important conference presentation experience, FURC offers some of the best networking opportunities with fellow academics and graduate programs nationwide, as well as workshops and other professional development opportunities.
This year, FURC was held on Friday, February 14 and Saturday, February 15 at the University of South Florida Campus. We had an amazing time with over 80 FSU student presenters!

Congratulations to Gladine Lamarre and Erin Tilly for making it as February 2025 Student Stars! FSU recognizes accomplished students from all over the university, and these two are CRE students!
Gladine Lamarre is majoring in Political Science and Criminology, graduating this semester. With a passion for community that shaped her research in prison reform, as a part of Honors in the Major, she conducted a literature review on the effects solitary confinement has on prisoners and society. She received an IDEA grant for her research, and presented it at the President’s Showcase of Undergraduate Research Excellence.
Erin Tilly is majoring in Biology and Environmental Science, also graduating this semester. Erin's work in assessing reef conditions in the Big Bend region, particularly her dedicated research on intertidal reefs in Apalachicola Bay, is helping to fill a gap in knowledge essential for their restoration and recovery.
