Come see students present their research at the Undergraduate Research Symposium (URS) on April 1, 2025, in the Student Union Ballrooms. This annual event invites undergraduate students from all majors to share their research with the wider community.

ATTEND THE UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH MENTOR AWARDS AND NOURISHING CREATIVITY

You are formally invited to Nourishing Creativity and the Undergraduate Research Mentor Awards Ceremony on April 1st from 12:00-1:30 pm in the Student Union Ballrooms. If you would like to join us for the event, please RSVP using the Qualtrics form by Thursday, March 20th. As spaces are limited, please do plan to stay for the entire event and let event organizers know if your RSVP changes before March 20th.

During Nourishing Creativity, we will announce the recipients of the Undergraduate Research Mentor Awards, recognizing research mentors who have made a significant impact in guiding and supporting student research. Following the awards ceremony, selected students will showcase their creative projects, highlighting the research occurring in creative disciplines.

Applications for the Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program close May 1st!

The Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP) provides first-year, second-year, and transfer students an engaging community with the flexibility and funding opportunities to explore their full range of interests. You can join a community of hundreds of student researchers, including discipline-specific and transfer cohorts.

Incoming 1st-year and rising 2nd-year student deadline: May 1st, 2025.

Transfer student deadline: July 1st, 2025.

• To be eligible as a transfer student for UROP, you must have earned your AA at another institution after high school graduation and be starting your first fall at FSU in 2025.

CONFERENCE FUNDING

The College of Arts and Sciences and the Division of Undergraduate Studies supports conference presentation funding through the administration of these grants. Undergraduate students from all College of Arts and Sciences disciplines are encouraged to apply. 

Undergraduate students may apply for up to $500 to cover costs for conferences in their discipline (or a related discipline). Both virtual and in-person conferences are eligible for funding.

Rolling deadline, though you must submit this application at least 6 weeks prior to the conference at which you will be presenting (you may need to submit this earlier to ensure registration by conference deadline).

You will need to upload an itemized list of expenses as part of this application. You will receive the award in the form of a reimbursement.

The national Tyler Center for Global Studies, coordinated by Florida State University, has named 12 partner institutions who will act as a network of schools that connect undergraduate students across the country with international research and global inquiry.

William H. Tyler III established the Tyler Center for Global Studies in 2022 with the goal of encouraging undergraduate students to pursue global research to positively shape the future. Since 2022, the Tyler Center for Global Studies has awarded 49 students across the United States with funding to conduct international research.

In addition to FSU, Tyler Center grants totaling $222,000 will be awarded to Austin Community College, Johns Hopkins University, Monroe Community College, SUNY Oneonta, Syracuse University, University of California-San Diego, University of Hawai’i at Mānoa, University of Missouri-Kansas City, University of Texas at Austin, University of Washington and William & Mary.
