You're invited to the 2024 President's Showcase of Undergraduate Research Excellence! Join us on Thursday, October 10, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at the FSU Student Union Ballrooms to explore the innovative work of 35 IDEA Grant winners. These students will present their summer research and creative projects through poster and oral presentations.

IDEA Grant Info Sessions

Join us to learn more about getting funding for your project!


FSU undergraduate students in all majors can apply for an FSU IDEA Grant. Selected applicants will receive either a summer stipend of up to $4,000 (or up to $6,000 for groups) to fund their self-designed work on a topic, project, problem, artistic product or performance, or other entrepreneurial or creative idea. Projects must be culminated in oral, poster, or creative presentation at the annual President's Showcase of Undergraduate Research Excellence. Join us at the Showcase this year on October 10th from 5:30 to 7:30 pm to see the research projects that received funding this year.

TYLER FELLOWS INFO SESSIONS

Are you interested in advancing your research skills? Do you want to prepare for grad school? Are you passionate about traveling around the world?


Apply to be a Tyler Fellow!


The Tyler Center for Global Studies Fellowship gives you the tools to conduct research at an international level during the summer. 


Tyler Fellows can apply to receive up to $4,000 to fund an international research project of their own design. Learn more about this opportunity at one of our upcoming info sessions (in HSF Room 3008 or on Zoom):

APPLY TO BE A UROP LEADER

Apply to be a UROP leader! As a UROP Leader, you’ll help teach students about the research process and prepare them for their research assistantships and poster presentations at the Undergraduate Research Symposium.


We’re looking for leaders in all majors, especially those with experience in Engineering, Nursing, Humanities, and Creative Arts.


Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be in at least your 2nd year at FSU
  • Must have at least 1.5 years left at FSU
  • Have undergraduate research experience
  • Minimum 3.25 GPA


Important Dates:

GETTING INTO RESEARCH

The CRE will be hosting a Getting into Research Workshop. We encourage you to attend if you are interested in getting involved in research while studying at FSU. This workshop will go over CRE programs, undergraduate research opportunities, and other campus resources to help you on your research journey. The workshop will be held in HSF 3008 and via Zoom.

GLOBAL SCHOLARS APPLICATION CLOSING SOON

The FSU Global Scholars program offers a unique opportunity for undergraduate students to engage with critical questions about social impact, social justice, and social change through a combination of academic, classroom-based learning as well as independent research, internship, and/or service-learning experiences.

2024 FALL RESEARCH DAY

Fall 2024 Research Day applications are now open!


Fall Research Day is primarily intended for seniors graduating at the end of Fall 2024, Honors in the Major students presenting their thesis research, or students who need to culminate the research engagement area for Garnet and Gold Scholars Society. It is a wonderful opportunity for undergraduate researchers to gain presentation experience and to showcase their research. This is an interdisciplinary event and welcomes all majors to apply!

CRE STUDENT STAR

Melisa Sencer, a recent Florida State University graduate who majored in Cell and Molecular Neuroscience, has made it her mission to impact those around her positively.


During her time at FSU, Sencer has been involved in auditory system research at the College of Medicine and treasured her role in the FSU Turkish Student Association (TSA). Her dedication to her academic pursuits and volunteer efforts is evident in her contributions to the local community and her leadership within the student organization.


Melissa was awarded an IDEA Grant for her project, Exploring the Uncharted Brain: Single Cell Analysis of Circuit Deficits in Fragile X Syndrome and presented at the 2023 President's Showcase of Undergraduate Research Excellence. Melisa is currently a student at Mayo Clinic’s radiology department studying Sonography and plans on applying to medical school next year.
