Summer 2024 Newsletter
Greetings!
The Capital Region Food Program is honored to be selected as the 2024 Pinnacle Award Nonprofit of the Year by the Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce for its demonstrated excellence and positive impact on the Capital Region.

"This is an incredible achievement, especially for an all-volunteer organization," said Elena Alois, CRFP Chair. "I have seen the impact of this organization throughout my life and we are so grateful for the continued support from the community in helping us achieve the organization's mission of reducing hunger in the Greater Concord Area."

The Chamber will be recognizing all 2024 Pinnacle Award winners at a reception on June 6th at The Courtyard by Marriott Concord and Grappone Conference Center.

Congratulations to all the 2024 Pinnacle Award recipients!

The Year Round Distribution Project (YRDP) takes place once a month to provide supplemental foods to the various food pantries, soup kitchens and social service agencies we work with

As a “just-in-time” service, this well-structured and highly efficient program is currently available for 39 participating agencies to order food when faced with shortages or increased demand. Each month, roughly 13-20 agencies participate by selecting certain quantities of food products available through the YRDP.

Since the pandemic, YRDP has faced challenges with the ongoing supply chain issues from the pandemic and rising food costs from inflation. In most cases, we have been able to make food substitutions to meet the high demand from our partner agencies, but at a much higher cost to the YRDP.

Based on the purchasing data and economic trends that we are monitoring closely, we anticipate the YRDP will continue to be impacted with these challenges for the foreseeable future. These considerations and anticipated cost increases are being integrated into budget planning for the upcoming fiscal year.

Please visit our website for more information on the Year Round Distribution Project and the partnership agencies we serve.
