In this difficult time of social distancing and distance learning, the faculty and staff at Cristo Rey wanted to send a message to our students to show that we're not so distant after all. Many thanks to all our faculty and staff for taking the time to make this video!

Virtual Campus Ministry
At Cristo Rey New York, the Campus Ministry office is one of our students' favorite places in the building. It's a space for students to hang out after school, talk about the "song of the day", get help with homework, and catch up with teachers and classmates. Since online learning has begun, our community has really been missing this space - so our Campus Ministry team did an amazing job of bringing it to life online!
The Virtual Campus Ministry platform is now a space for students and teachers to share book and movie recommendations, prayers and advice to help cope with COVID-19, and even ZOOM office hours to get some face time with one another.
College Trip
It seems so long ago! In early March, before New Yorkers were instructed to stay home, our juniors spent part of their spring break on our annual College Trip! The Class of 2021 traveled with our College Counseling team to a wide variety of college campuses in New York, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts. 
The juniors split up into four groups, each covering eight colleges in three days. This year, the girls traveled to MA and RI, visiting schools like Boston College, Providence College, Marist, Brown, and Babson, while the boys headed upstate to see schools including Hobart and William Smith, University of Rochester, Syracuse, Cornell, and Le Moyne.
For many of our students, this trip is their first time stepping onto a college campus. The trip helps students visualize themselves in college—their next major step towards becoming professionals for others.

Chanelly '21 reflected, "Due to the current situation affecting our world, many tours were modified and less detail oriented. Although this did change our original itinerary, one thing persisted - our attitudes. As we roamed the halls of colleges that may one day be our home, we stood in awe and held our heads up high."

CWSP Partner Spotlight
Perla Figuereo, CRNYHS '17, was recently elected President of the Bates College Student Government. Perla is the first Woman of Color to hold this position. Congratulations, Perla!
Special thanks to CRNYHS Trustee Miguel Lugo and CWSP Partner Goya Foods for providing Cristo Rey families with packages of non-perishable food to take home this month.
Alumni Emergency Assistance Fund
Cristo Rey Network raises $250,000
Once colleges and universities across the country started changing operations in response to COVID-19, the national Cristo Rey Network jumped into action to assist our 7,000 college enrollees. With the help of a matching gift from a longstanding friend of the Network, $250,000 is now going to our alums in need. This funding will help with transportation and moving fees, costs associated with remote learning, and many other unexpected challenges our alumni are facing. We are so grateful for the generosity of everyone who helped us reach this goal!

During this time of transition, we need your help more than ever as we try to support our students and our families with unexpected costs related to COVID-19. Some of these needs include aiding our students and families with technological assistance, food, and alumni travel/moving expenses.
