Introducing our Servant Leader Interns: Nick, Bill, and Emily!

Crossways is thrilled once again this fall to welcome three fabulous young adults to our Servant Leader Intern Program: Nick Hodges, Emily Sprunger, and Bill Sweeney! Nick, Emily, and Bill all hail from outside of Wisconsin and are excited to dig into 9 months of servant leadership, learning, and vocational discernment/exploration. We know you'll love them as much as we already do.
A bit about Nick (in picture, far right):
Hello! I’m Nick Hodges, and I grew up in Christiansburg, Virginia, which is right near Virginia Tech. I spent this past summer as the Maintenance Director and summer staff member at Caroline Furnace Lutheran Camp in Fort Valley Virginia. I am an avid movie watcher; I currently own over 200 movies. I am excited for this opportunity to see how a multi-site camping ministry operates and to learn more about camps in general.
A bit about Emily (in picture, far left):
Hi, I am Emily Sprunger. I am from Keokuk, Iowa and am a recent graduate of University of Dubuque. This past summer I got to work with A Christian Ministry in the National Parks (ACMNP) in Custer State Park. I worked front desk at one of the lodges and then was able to lead worship on Sunday mornings in an outdoor chapel. I am very passionate about hockey, in particular Nashville Predators hockey. I also am an avid smoothie enjoyer and critic. I’m excited to spend this next year learning more about the role church camps play in the Church as a whole, and getting to strength my programming and leadership abilities. I also look forward to meeting the churches and campers that support Crossways Ministries and building relationships.
A bit about Bill (in picture, middle):
Hey there! I'm Bill Sweeney and I'm an intern at Crossways. I'm 20 years old and from Saxonburg, Pennsylvania (half an hour from Pittsburgh for folks not familiar with the area). This past summer I served as a counselor at Camp Lutherlyn in Butler, Pa. It had been my fourth summer on staff and thirteenth year at camp. In my staff years I shuffled from kitchen staff to counselor to media director, and then back as a counselor. One interesting thing about me is that I love tigers and could tell you most anything about them, and also if you want to have deep discussions about “The Office” [tv show], please arrange an appointment through Pam, our receptionist [a clever joke for those who like that show!]. This year I am excited to dive into integrating my experiences and passions into Crossways programming and community. I can’t wait to dive in!
Keep our interns in your prayers this year as they engage in discernment, enrichment, and ministry work at our camps, in our congregations, and in our communities!
The Second Annual GALA is fast approaching! It is scheduled for October 27, 2018 at Liberty Hall in Kimberly . Our First Annual Gala was such a success that we doubled our net revenue ($29,000) and outgrew the venue at Riverview Gardens in Appleton with 190 attendees. To view the slide show from last year go to:

We are excited to announce that registration for Confirmation Camp 2019 will happen ONLINE ! This has been years in the making and we couldn't be more thrilled to see it come to fruition. What this means is that while we'll all have some new things to learn (the process and the timeline will change slightly), reserving space and having campers register for confirmation camp will be much smoother for years to come!

If you are a congregation leader, please be on the lookout for a mailed packet to come your way soon, if it hasn't already arrived. In that packet you'll find information about our 2019 Confirmation Camp dates, locations, and rates, as well as a timeline and process instructions for signing up for your 2019 session (and getting your camper registered). In the mean time, feel free to download both of these documents here:

Watch for an email with our 2019 Confirmation Camp Session Request Form to be sent October 1st, the day we open confirmation camp reservation requests!
Do you love escaping to camp for a weekend retreat? So do we! Our 2018-2019 programmed retreat schedules are up on our website! We have retreats coming up for youth in grades 3-8 as well as our Couples Retreat and TWO Women's Wellness Retreats! Of course we have crafting retreats for quilters, scrapbookers, knitters, and more.

Do you have ideas for a new retreat or program partnership? Let us know! We'd love to hear about it.
