Crossways Connections
December 2018
“Joy is the simplest form of gratitude.”
- Karl Barth

Advent is a wonderful season, it is one that provides us with the opportunity for remembrance of Christ’s first coming and anticipation of Christ’s second coming.

For Crossways, this is also a time to reflect on the events of the past year (lives changed, communities enhanced and many changes experienced) and a time to anticipate the coming year, full of opportunities.

Part of our reflection is remembering each of you with joy and humble gratitude. Giving thanks for all the ways you have supported Crossways Camping Ministries.

Maybe you attended one of our programs or retreats, participated in a volunteer work project, attended one of our fund-raising events, supported Crossways with your prayers, or contributed financially – THANK YOU! Crossways is able to do what it does because of God’s love and grace and because of you!

As interim executive director, I have had the opportunity to witness first-hand the amazing (and tireless) work of the staff, board of directors, committees and volunteers. Crossways is truly blessed by these talented and committed individuals.

The board continues to discern the ministries’ needs as it begins the search for the new executive director, one that will serve not only the needs of Crossways today, but also the future. A transition team has been formed and very soon the call/search committee will begin its work. I know many of you are also anxiously awaiting news of who will be the new Pine Lake director – watch in the coming weeks for that announcement.

Living into the realities and unknowns that change creates, let us lean into our faith, especially during this season of Advent, putting our trust in God, just as Mary did so long ago.

“Do not be afraid,” counsels the angel when appearing to Mary,
“for you have found favor with God” (Luke 1:30).

“Here am I, the servant of the Lord; let it be with me according to
your word” (Luke 1:38).

Let each of us to be open to God’s spirit of transformation. Open to embracing a compelling new vision for all of life and for this ministry that is Crossways. Come Lord Jesus.

God’s blessings of remembrance and anticipation to all this Advent season.
Laurie Wilkinson
Interim Executive Director

Thank you
for giving!
Your generous support on Giving Tuesday raised $1,570.98 .
We are so thankful for the continued partnership with and support from all of you!
Please consider a year end donation to Crossways Camping Ministries.

During this season of anticipation and reflection, I would invite you to prayerfully consider a year-end gift to Crossways. Your gift is so vitally important to this ministry, especially this year, due to some unforeseen and unbudgeted expenses and the cancellation of several events due to weather conditions earlier in the year. With your help and God's grace, we will finish the year strong.
