4. Activator Music Academy is the music school at CROYA, and Sam Subar is one of the main music teachers. Sam has a huge variety of music interests, including jazz, r&b, folk, reggae, country, and rock. Some of Sam's favorite artists are Paul Simon, Aretha Franklin, Joni Mitchell, Willie Nelson, Patsy Cline, James Taylor, Bob Marley, The Beatles, and more! Sam's first real mentor was a Grammy award winning drummer named Jim Hines, who toured with Brian Wilson from the Beach Boys! Jim helped Sam develop into the musician and teacher he is today. When Sam was in college, he studied music with Bob Gulloti, who is considered one of the best free-jazz drummers of our time. Sam also credits his Mom and siblings as big influences on him becoming an artist. Click here for more information about how to sign up for music lessons.
