2022 Council Elections

There were three positions available on CRPO Council for this election cycle: two in District 7 – Central and one in District 8 - Ontario.

The College received three completed nomination packages by the deadline and so the three eligible candidates are elected by acclamation. The terms for these positions will begin on June 1.

I’d like to extend a welcome to new Council member Avni Jain (District 7) and a welcome back to returning members Kali Hewitt-Blackie (District 7) and Michael Machan (District 8).

QA Enhancement Project - Call for Participation

As you may be aware, CRPO is revamping the Quality Assurance (QA) program. The purpose is to reach more registrants and tailor feedback to their needs. A central feature of the QA program revision is a case-based, professionally validated online assessment. Creation of the assessment has included the participation of RPs to write and review practice scenarios.

CRPO is excited to announce a call for RPs to participate in an upcoming phase of the development of the new QA online assessment. Participation will involve preparation and attendance at several meetings in summer 2022. More information about time commitment can be found in the survey linked at the end of this notice. RPs who are selected to participate in the project will be remunerated at the rate of Council, as outlined in CRPO's per diem policy.

To enhance its impacts through DEI-informed approaches, CRPO is committed to integrating perspectives of communities that face individual and systemic discrimination, barriers and inequities. Meaningful inclusion of diverse and intersectional identities (including but not limited to identities protected under the Ontario Human Rights Code like race, gender, disability, sexual orientation, age, etc.) is key to this and so we are eager to recruit from across the registrant base for this work.

Any RP with at least 5 years’ experience in the profession may apply. To express your interest in this project and apply, please click the following link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/RNBXZPR

Can I use the CRPO logo in my advertising?

When a registrant properly uses their protected title, they are indicating their registration with CRPO. This communicates that they have met and continue to meet requirements to practise as a Registered Psychotherapist. In contrast, registrants are not permitted to use CRPO’s logo on their website or other advertising materials, such as brochures and business cards, or on social media pages. Using CRPO’s logo could improperly suggest an endorsement by or affiliation with CRPO beyond being a registrant.

Education Program Recognized

The Diploma in Expressive Arts Therapy at the CREATE Institute is the latest educational program to receive academic recognition from CRPO. This means that the program sufficiently enables students to develop the required competencies for entry-to-practice in psychotherapy. Visit our website for more information about the recognition process or to review the other recognized programs.

All registrants are required to provide the College with an email address

The College communicates with registrants by email. Communications include emails about significant regulatory developments at the College, registration renewal notices, QA requirements, developments in practice standards, or emergency situations affecting RPs across the province. You may also receive the occasional survey that is being conducted by the College or notices about opportunities to get involved at the College, such as Council elections or committee appointments.

Registrants are responsible for checking and reading email from the College. You can log in to your user account and update your information there. Registrants are responsible for keeping their email addresses up to date.

Please do not unsubscribe. CRPO uses email to communicate with registrants about important College updates. If you choose to unsubscribe, it is then your responsibility to regularly check our website to keep yourself informed about your College obligations. It is the responsibility of each registrant to make sure CRPO has your current contact information, updated within 30 days of a change, and ensure that the organization you work for does not block CRPO emails.
