CRPO Supervision Module Now Available

Beginning April 1, 2026, anyone providing clinical supervision for CRPO registration purposes will be expected to complete CRPO’s Clinical Supervision Module. This applies to clinical supervisors in Ontario, whether they are registered with CRPO or one of the other colleges whose registrants practice psychotherapy. The 30-minute module is available free to anyone who may be interested. Visit the CRPO website for more information and to complete the module.

Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) and Psychotherapy

CRPO is in the process of reviewing its approach to ensuring that RPs respond appropriately when clients may be experiencing IPV. In the meantime, registrants can find generally relevant information on CRPO’s website.

Quality Assurance Program Policy Revisions: CBA Case Development and Registrant Participation

The Quality Assurance Committee approved revisions to the QA Program Policies on March 7, 2025. Among the changes were updates to the following policies:

  • Policy 1.1 b): Adding the existing requirement to undertake training on the duty to report child abuse and neglect.
  • Policy 2.5: Adding provision and conditions for use of artificial intelligence technology in the development of CBA case materials.
  • Policy 5.3: Adding clarification that randomly guessing all answers or relying solely on artificial intelligence for the CBA or other QA submissions is not considered participation.

The revised policies emphasize that use of artificial intelligence offers opportunity for efficiency; however, a registrant should not use AI to replace professional judgement, meaningful reflection, or full participation in CRPO’s QA Program. The College and registrants alike must reflect carefully on output generated by AI and not allow it to replace professional judgment and learning.

Minors and Consent Webinar

CRPO will host its next practice standards webinar on May 28, 12-1pm ET. The topic is Minors and Consent. To submit a question in advance, please complete this survey. The webinar will be recorded for those who cannot attend. We will send the meeting link out in May.

Town Halls

CRPO has been hosting virtual town hall meetings since last April to engage with registrants on a variety of topics. If you missed any of the previous town halls, recordings are available on our website.

Town halls have concluded for the 2024-25 period. Thanks to all who attended and asked questions. Please take a moment to complete a brief survey to provide feedback on the sessions you attended and help us plan for future sessions in the Fall.

Program Acceptance Renewal

Education programs accepted by CRPO must apply for renewal every five years. The Registration Committee recently renewed CRPO’s acceptance of the Mennonite New Life Centre Bridge to Registration and Employment in Mental Health program, in combination with prior training, as satisfying the education requirement for registration.

For CRPO registrants: Please do not unsubscribe. CRPO uses email to communicate with registrants about important College updates. If you choose to unsubscribe, it is then your responsibility to regularly check our website to keep yourself informed about your College obligations. It is the responsibility of each registrant to make sure CRPO has your current contact information, updated within 30 days of a change, and ensure that the organization you work for does not block CRPO emails. CRPO may collect information about whether a recipient has read a message. CRPO may use this information for communication planning and record-keeping.
