Summary

July 1, 2025, marks the commencement of the new fiscal year for the State of Florida. On June 30, Governor Ron DeSantis officially signed the budget for FY 2025-26, totaling $115.1 billion, a decrease from the prior year's $117.4 billion, marking the first year-over-year decline since 2011. For the new fiscal year, Lawmakers approved a health and human services budget totaling $47.6 billion.

Governor DeSantis also vetoed House Bill 5015, which would have required the Department of Management Services to develop annual prescription-drug formularies. Under the measure, the 14-member Legislative Budget Commission would be responsible for approving the formulary before its implementation.   In his veto message, Governor DeSantis expressed concerns surrounding increased costs and restricted access for state employees.
