A Message from Jen Belnap, CRWF President
The presidential election is upon us, and there has been no shortage of surprises leading up to November! National and local seats have generated intense interest. It’s as if the whole world understands what’s at stake. The good news is an informed, engaged electorate is something we all benefit from, no matter your party affiliation. CRWF members have been working hard to educate, inform, and activate Carlsbad voters. We are doing our part, with a smile!
Our members have already hosted multiple mailing parties for ballot initiatives. You’ve opened your homes and club houses for meet ‘n greets with our candidates, and your enthusiasm is contagious as you share information about local leaders who are working to bring common sense back to government offices.
Keep up the good work! Your strength and efforts are inspiring, and YOU make a difference in our community.
In Service,
Jen Belnap

CRWF Welcomes Alex Acosta, former Secretary of Labor during President Trump’s first term!
Please join CRWF to hear Acosta’s take on “How the Economy and Current Affairs will Impact You, Your Family and Your Future.” Don’t miss this opportunity to meet and hear from an insider who worked directly with Trump, our Republican candidate for President of the United States in 2024!
In February 2017, President Donald Trump nominated Mr. Acosta to serve as Secretary of Labor. Secretary Acosta focused on addressing the nation’s skills gap, advocating for expansion of apprenticeship programs and for other skills acquisition programs that provide in-demand skills. His regulatory initiatives included revisions to the Fiduciary Rule and the Overtime Rule. The Department, during his tenure, removed $11.8 billion in regulatory burdens from the economy, the second highest deregulatory outcome of any federal agency.
Previously, Acosta was selected by President George W. Bush to serve as Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice. He was also a former dean of Florida International University College of Law and Chairman of U.S. Century Bank, one of Florida’s largest community banks.
Acosta presently serves as an advisor for private market ventures. He has twice been named to the list of the nation’s 50 most influential Hispanics by Hispanic Business Magazine and to the list of 100 most influential individuals in business ethics by the Ethisphere Institute.
Acosta is the son of Cuban refugees and a first-generation college graduate. He received his undergraduate and law degrees from Harvard University. He and his wife, Jan, live in Virginia with their two middle school daughters and a five-year-old son.

CRWF – San Diego County Election Integrity!
Judy Rees – Election Integrity Officer – Republican Party, San Diego County
GET OUT THE VOTE AND WIN THIS ELECTION!
It is up to you, to be sure that all the 538,000 registered Republicans in
San Diego County, VOTE! And, if we get the 468,000 - No Party Preference to join us, we can do our part to “trounce” the 800,000 Democrats that have not switched over to our side yet!
Mail your Ballot! Although voting in person is traditional, we still have Vote Centers for those who chose to follow their heart. Mailing your ballot is easy and safe, too, when you use BallotTrax. Know the choices on your ballot in advance and be ready to mark, sign and mail it as soon as it hits your mailbox on the first week in October. Using BallotTrax at https://www.sdvote.com/ will track your vote and will send an e-mail or text assuring you that your ballot has been received at the Registrar of Voters, and will be counted.
Become a Poll Observer! Faith in the election process has dwindled, therefore, the voters must be reassured that their vote will count! The key to getting people out to vote is a strong Election Integrity Team that can provide comfort in the fact that all votes will count, and it is worth the effort to cast your ballot!
Every day, the San Diego County Election Integrity Team is “in training, online” with the CAGOP. They learn the state rules that Poll Workers must follow and engage in training classes on how to observe properly and use the “hot Line” to report any improprieties. This team will be observing some 200 Vote Centers that will be located throughout the county. A selected few Vote Centers will be open for 11 full days 8 am to 5 PM, starting October 26th and starting November 5th all will be open.
You too, can become a Poll Observer or ... Interested in “the art of Ballot Harvesting”?

A Report From ... Teri House, Legislation Chair
What are the odds?
What are the odds of Republicans voting Yes on California Propositions? One in Ten.
Ten propositions are on the ballot this November and only One is endorsed by the California Federation of Republican Women. The propositions are the typical mixture of bonds, committees, tax increases and reductions of representation for citizens and increase of rights for criminals. Stir in rent control, laws governing health care providers and an increase in the minimum wage and the ballot is a combination ticket of progressive dreams. Details on these propositions will be featured during our luncheon meetings and in future issues of our newsletter.
Support is gaining for Prop 36 which deserves an overwhelming YES from voters to overturn the chaos and expense caused by Prop 47.
Our team suffered a loss when Gavin Newsom signed the sweetly named Support Academic Futures and Educators for Today’s Youth, the SAFETY Act, which prohibits school staff disclosing children’s sexual orientation or gender identity to parents. The Liberty Justice Center has filed a lawsuit challenging the new law. Support is gaining for Prop 36 which deserves an overwhelming YES from voters to overturn the chaos and expense caused by Prop 47.
Currently in the final stages of the legislation process is SB1174 which prohibits a local government from enforcing any requirements that a person must present identification in order to vote or submit a ballot. This is a proposed statewide law created in response to Huntington Beach’s local law requiring identification to vote.
Please call your elected officials to make your voices heard on all of these issues.

Clear Your September Calendar!
You Are Needed on the Campaign Trail!
Judy OConnor, 4th VP – Election Integrity / Voter Registration
Terry Carpenter, Volunteer Coordinator
President Trump once said, “TOO BIG TO RIG”, so let’s get busy and ensure it will be free and fair elections and promote the best candidates. Here are 4 ways to get involved.
-
CRWF will have a tent at the Boardwalk in Carlsbad and possibly other locations throughout September. People are needed to staff the booth, pass out voter guides and materials on our favorite candidates. There will be an opportunity to sign up at the meeting and links will be emailed to sign up online.
-
There is a door-knocking program for the same purpose as the boardwalk AND there’s an app for that! You knock on the doors of Republicans, Independents, and Decline to State only - no dems doors are included. Our very own Terry Carpenter is organizing this for CRWF. Please call or text Terry to let her know she can count on you to help with our door-knocking campaign @ 760.331.3524
-
Become a Social Media Warrior! Please don’t run from this, we are making it easier than you think. Jennifer Barber, a new member, will explain this in more detail at our August meeting. Please CLICK HERE to find out why we need to be Social Media Warriors.
