Would Your Club Like to Attend an Opening Day Ceremony?

TYEE Yacht Club has been kind enough to open it's doors to all of our member clubs to join them for TYEE's Opening Day Ceremonies. They are aware that many smaller cruising clubs don't have clubhouses and might enjoy being a part of their traditions. Please let Bev Hamlik know so she can help make sure you have all the information needed to attend. RSVP to Bev by April 30th. [email protected] For a flyer outlining the days events at TYEE contact Bev.

The Daughters of Neptune Program is Rebuilding!

President Alicia Robinson is working with Imwa Buller to help rebuild the daughters program that so many have fond memories of. Imwa Buller of Dolphin Yacht Club has offered to help lead and create a program that we need to encourage girls to be a part of. We have at least 3 girls at this point, and hope others will join us. Alicia and Imwa will be reaching out to all the clubs to talk about this. Their first anticipated event will be opening day. You can contact them by emailing [email protected]. This year there will be no fee to join, CRYA is sponsoring the rebuild year.

Report a Boater Online Reporting

How many times while out boating have you seen someone speed past recklessly and thought "Someone Should Do Something About That"?

Well now YOU can.

Oregon.Gov now has a landing page that allows you to "submit your observations" via an online reporting tool. It has the ability to take your information on the incident, and the ability to add photo's which can help in the enforcement of bad boaters. We will add this link to our Links of Interest section at the start of each Newsletter as well.

Top 3 mistakes when using a VHF Radio

There are some basic things that can help you when using the radio for help, but also to keep from being the one creating problems for those needing help.

A great article from BoatUS can be found HERE

Testing the DSC feature of your VHF Radio

After Reading the Article above above on mistakes made when using a VHF, you're wondering how can I test that I have my VHF radio DSC calling feature setup correctly? No, not by pressing the Emergency Button on your Radio! The good news is the US Coast Guard has a Bulletin that can help!

For Complete information the bulletin link is HERE

The Top 3 Reasons Why Boats Fail a No-Penalty Vessel Safety Check

With Opening Day right around the corner, it's time to get your boat inspected and get your FREE 2023 Vessel Safety Check Sticker, or VSC. Find out the top 3 reasons boats fail so that you will be ready to Pass on the first try! You can read the BoatUS article HERE.

Oregon HB2914-2 Passes Committee and moves to Ways and Means

So what makes this important to you as a boater? This bill will allow a committee to be formed to create the framework for the future of Abandoned and Derelict Vessel programs for removal and future ways of working on the problem. This committee is required to be in place when the Oregon Governors Budget containing 18.7 Million dollars for the project is available. CRYA, WOOO, MCSO river patrol and Rocky Pointe Marina all testified to help ensure this and other programs/bills are successful in making it through the Legislative process. We are working for you!

Metro Service District has announced a Boat Turn in Program Designed to reduce abandoned and derelict boats. The program will run until June 30, 2023 or until funds are exhausted.
