Reminder of New Pay Station requirements for

St. Helens City Docks

As our new cruising season starts it is important to be reminded of the new pay stations located on the St. Helens City Docks. One station is for moorage, $15 a night and be sure to display your receipt. The other pay station is for Power, $5 a night. There is now a dockmaster who will be monitoring vessels at the docks. Be reminded that this process is what allows them to police the boats that have been using the docks for free, and taking up space that could be used by others.

Coast Guard advises mariners of hazardous waterways along the Oregon coast

02/02/2023 05:30 PM EST

ASTORIA, Ore. – The Coast Guard advises recreational boaters and waterway users Thursday of the dangers related to hazardous waterways and bars along the Oregon Coast. In addition to safety, understanding current bar conditions and restrictions can prevent mariners from incurring costly fines and penalties.

Willamette Weekly Article on a towed boat in violation

I was forwarded a link to this article and was absolutely amazed at how a person who was stealing from the system, warned 14 times to move his boat, was suddenly rewarded and shown as a victim. Please, read this article and see what you think. It seems like all the work we are doing isn't getting anywhere with the enforcement of vagrant boaters and campers. Please make sure to share this story with others and let's put the pressure on the system to stop rewarding criminal behavior.

US Coast Guard Rescue Video

If you haven't seen the footage of the vessel Sandpiper capsizing with a man on board 6 miles off of the Columbia River Bar you can find it here. The story is quite interesting in that the vessel was stolen, and it was the first swim rescue for the Coast Guard Swimmer. Harrowing footage!
