Positive Changes for the St. Helens City Docks

The City of St. Helens has been working to get in place new rules for the city docks.  There will be a daily (24hr) fee as well as a fee for power.  These changes allow the city to impound vessels if needed, and with a new Harbormaster along with a live camera of the docks will be what they need to keep the docks clear of squatter boats.  They are also working on grant money to help improve the docks for the future.  The City Docks Live Camera page link above has the new fee schedule as well.

2023 Cruise Schedule Submission Date/Time Changes

In our recent Standing Committee Meeting we talked about some changes for the future that we feel will help make the process smoother for all.  The new date for submissions will be September 1st, and the new time will be 12 Noon.  We feel it will give incoming Bridges more opportunity to be involved in the clubs cruise destinations.  Jolene Walsh will again be leading the effort this year.  If you have any questions for Jolene she can be reached at [email protected]

Of Interest to CRYA:

This upcoming OSMB meeting will cover noise limits on personal Watercraft on the Willamette River in Clackamas County.  There is currently a temporary noise order in place.  That portion of the meeting should have some good comments.  Read the Temporary Rule Here to get a feel for the restriction.  Jet Skis doing tricks late into the evenings of the river area drove the complaint.

Help Support Your Boating Community - Give 2 Years

For close to 90 years, the Columbia River Yachting Association has supported boating with the help of many volunteers.  We Need to find our next VP from one of our member clubs.  You don't need a clubhouse, our larger clubs have supported our efforts for years and many smaller clubs have members in these larger clubs.  What do you get?  It's a lot of fun to get behind the scenes a little to meet our Sheriff and river patrol officers, State and local officials as well as have input on waterway issues.  As the VP for one year is to make the meetings, and Sell hats and burgees when we get together again.  This year you get a feel for things so that when you become President in your second year you'll know what your goal for that year is.  A new rule, some dock or facility improvements?  The list is long of those that became the President of CRYA.  Look at the list, see who you remember from your club and decide that you would like to be on that list too.  And next year will be our 90th Anniversary!  Other positions are available such as Treasurer so do consider CRYA for some of your time.

Calling All Photographers!

As mentioned last month, we are looking for some new options for our website home page. I have been getting a few submissions and would love to get more. Having Mt. Hood or backgrounds with known landmarks is a plus. We will have a gift for the winning photo(s) so please help us out in getting some great boating Photo's from our area. Submissions or questions can be sent to [email protected] Thanks to everyone who have sent in photos.
