Practice Day for the 2025 Opening Day Parade October 19th

CRYA is going to have a practice run for the upcoming 2025 Opening Day Parade. The date has been set for Saturday October 19th. We would like to see all club Fleet Captains attend, but we need boats and captains for a couple of hours to simulate what we think is going to be the route on the Vancouver Waterfront. There may be an impromptu cruise afterward to go over feedback from the trial run. Moving our parade to the Vancouver Waterfront has some challenges, but feedback from everyone has been positive so please help us. More information will be coming as well. If you can help, please contact Tony Bacon. He can be reached at Tony@CRYA.us. A possible route is shown below.

Daughters of Neptune need your help!

Our Director Alicia Robinson has been working to gather information from all the clubs on the history of the Daughters of Neptune. She is looking for Pictures, past Daughters of your clubs, and stories of events that have taken place in the 70th year of celebrating the program. If you can help, Please contact Alicia at Alicia@CRYA.us.

Location Change!

Annual Halloween Cruise is Oct. 11th-13th at SCHWITTER Docks

The organizers of the Annual Halloween Cruise have opted to move the event to Schwitter Docks this year. CRYC has tentatively agreed to bring the Paddlefish to the event which makes a nice covered area for any needs that arise.

Abandoned and Derelict Vessels are a big problem Nationwide

A recently released report by Dave Thomas - the Legislative Director of the National Boating Federation gives some history of where some of these vessels come from, and the future of how to remove them. To read the entire article, click HERE

Breaching dams would lead to disastrous effects on local economies, global food supplies, and environmental health

In 1992 the Army Corps of Engineers did a drawdown test on water levels of the Snake River system simulating what Dam removal might look like with the Dam's gone. This report details the issues to navigation and economy from this test. This is a great read - Click HERE for the full article.

Synergy Between WOOO and CRYA

One of our goals in creating our monthly newsletter is to create a place where information about our boating and waterfront community can share news. As such, we have opened up a spot for a monthly article from WOOO on things they would like CRYA membership to know.

This month, President Ron Schmitt of WOOO has written a great article on how CRYA and WOOO have been partnering over the past few years to help each other get results on issues that are of importance to both the boating community, and the waterfront community. To read the full article - Click HERE

Do you Love Boating? Can you help us make it better for all? Volunteer and Join CRYA

Every Year we look to find Officers for our Executive Board. The biggest need is always a Two-year term that is first year as VP, and the second year as President. You represent your club, and it gives you insight into how CRYA is working to help the boating community. Of course we have other positions as well, one of which is a Webmaster. If you have a desire to help or need more information you can get ahold of us at info@CRYA.us. It is a great way to give back.

Beacon Rock Docks Closed Until Further Notice!

Washington Parks have still not given any updates on the repair status of the Beacon Rock Docks. We will continue to look for information as to the repair status. Still both docks and pumpout remain closed.

Content in your Club's Newsletters that all Boaters should read?

We can't see every club's internal communication, but we have to think some of the articles would be great information for all boaters. If you find that article of interest, please forward it to cryanews@gmail.com after getting approval to share. We can all be more informed.
