Fall 2023 Enrollment - Week of April 10!

In case you missed it....

Fall 2023 enrollment will start the week of April 10. Keep an eye on your e-mail for information on your specific enrollment date & time!

Interested in a CS Graduate Course?

Due to the volume of students in Computer Sciences, CS Graduate-Level (700-level) courses are generally reserved for graduate students only. However, if a graduate-level course has space available, undergraduate students may be considered (although not guaranteed).

If you are an undergraduate student interested in a CS graduate-level course, you will need to fill out our request form here.

Please note that undergraduate students requesting a graduate-level course may not hear on their permission to enroll until the first week of the semester. Please consult with your advisor regarding your decision to request a graduate-level course and back-up options.

The UPL is reviewing courses offered for the Fall 2023. Get a student inside scoop on the various courses and ask questions! For instance, ask about which classes pair well together and which classes are not required but strongly recommended.

Now in Wisconsin Scholarship Hub!

Computer Sciences Scholarships for Spring 2023 are now available for applying in the Wisconsin Scholarship Hub (WiSH)! There are four (4) scholarships specific to continuing Computer Sciences students:

David Dewitt Undergraduate Scholarship
Hina and Faisal Mushtaq Scholarship
Paul D. Salmon Memorial Scholarship
Wai Ying Yick and Dr. Chiu Wai Yuen Endowment

Preparing for a Technical Interview

Start by drilling the fundamentals of your language(s). Some interviews let you decide which language to code in; others will not give you the option. If you are comfortable recalling and using key structures, operators, and common syntax, you’ll be ready for anything the technical interview challenges you with.

Also, do some research on the company. Read other job descriptions or company project activity to get hints about coding and techniques the company might challenge you with.

Finally, include code-test practice into your regular job search routine, even if you don’t have an interview scheduled yet. Regular practice will ensure you’re ready when the interview comes, and will help you build confidence in your skills.
