Viewing SNP/DNA Results Using the Internet
CSA staff have been receiving a number of inquiries regarding the status of DNA results for both registered & unregistered animals.
We would like to remind our members that they can inquire about the status of DNA tests that are being conducted for their animals by using either the Online System or the Pedigree Search function on the CSA website.
Depending on the animal that you are wanting to inquire about, Online Simmental users can obtain this information by logging into their system and navigating under either of the three areas listed below and clicking on the link named View . Once the animal details are displayed click on the tab named "Lab Results".
My Herd
                My Registered Males
                My Registered Females
                My Un-Registered Calves

Example: "My Registered Males" - from the Online System

Example: "Pedigree Search" - from the CSA Website
Note: In order to use this inquiry method, the animal must be registered in the CSA Herd Book.

Animal Name Change
When submitting the Name Change form, if the paper is not on hold for transfer then will require the original paper to be reprinted. Will require the signature of Original Owner of the animal as that member is the one to give the permission. This animal cannot have any registered progeny. The cost for name change is $30.00 plus Taxes.

CELEBRATING 50 YEARS OF SIMMENTAL IN CANADA!

50th Anniversary Celebratory Events
It's hard to believe that it's been 50 years since the first Simmental bull, Parisien, was imported to Canada. This was an event that created history and changed the Canadian Beef Industry. Since then, the Simmental breed has been a tremendous success story as it has progressed into becoming one of the most influential beef cattle breeds in North America.

Simmental breeders from across Canada are preparing to celebrate our 50th Anniversary during these events. Be sure to mark your calendar and plan to join the excitement!

Watch for more details to come in the upcoming months. For any questions please contact your Provincial Simmental Association or Rae-Lee Erickson at the CSA office 403.250.7979 or [email protected]

FRIENDS OF CANADIAN SIMMENTAL FOUNDATION

There are some really interesting donations in the 2017 FCSF Auction. Thank you to all of our donators for their generous support. If you would like the opportunity to own the donation bred heifer from Tryon Simmentals - the Frank Robblee Family, you can pre-order tickets from any Foundation Board member for $20 per ticket. The heifer being donated is a daughter of Sibelle Dirty Harry 25Z and Frank's top cow Tryon Gabi FF27U. She was bred to JNR's Philosophy on April 29th. Tickets will also be auctioned the evening of the sale. For each $20 you bid you will receive one ticket. Proceeds from the auction support scholarships, youth development and research. Proceeds from this year's sale will go directly to the National Young Canadian Simmental Program (YCSA) and our scholarship program.

You can also view the catalog on the CSA website - www.simmental.com, or the Friends of Canadian Simmental website at www.friendsofsimmental.com. The auction includes art work, coin collections, unique genetics, children toys, marketing opportunities and more. The auction can also be viewed the evening of August 12 at www.dlms.ca. We are looking forward to seeing everyone in Fredericton, New Brunswick. For more information please contact Deanne Young at 780-542-0855.

If you would like to learn more about the Friends of Canadian Simmental Foundation and the work that we are doing, please join us at our Annual General Meeting, to be held in conjunction with the Canadian Simmental Association meeting on Saturday August 12, 2017.
