REGISTRY

THE HERD LETTER FOR 2017 IS "E"

Registry Issue
CSA registration papers printed over the past few months contain a discrepancy where they only display one service sire on them for bred females that may have been bred to more than one bull during the breeding season. Although only one service sire was printed on the registration certificate you received, the CSA registry system does have the information stored in it that was sent to us at the time of transfer by the seller.

Maternal Upgrade Registration Requests
This is a friendly reminder for those members that require the CSA staff to enter Non-Simmental animals into our Herd Book.

The steps involved are as follows:

1. Please fax (or email) the Registration ID for the animal that needs to be entered.
2. To avoid delays in the staff returning the unique CSA identification for these animals, please ensure that you also include the Breeder Copy/DNA certificate showing the current DNA results for any males that are being entered.
** Important Note: If you were not the member that originally submitted the hair sample for the bull in question, you will have to obtain permission from those parties (or the CAA Registry staff) in order to obtain a copy of these results. Otherwise, this will delay the completion of the Non-SM pedigree entry.
3. For more information pertaining to Simmental fractions, please go to www.simmental.com and look under - ResourcesUpgrade Table

Animal Name Change
A member may request for animal name change, providing the animal does not have any registered progeny and the signature is the original owner.  Forms are located at www.simmental.com / Registry / Forms / Change of Animal Name

CELEBRATING 50 YEARS OF SIMMENTAL IN CANADA!

50th Anniversary Celebratory Events
It's hard to believe that it's been 50 years since the first Simmental bull, Parisien, was imported to Canada. This was an event that created history and changed the Canadian Beef Industry. Since then, the Simmental breed has been a tremendous success story as it has progressed into becoming one of the most influential beef cattle breeds in North America.

Simmental breeders from across Canada are preparing to celebrate our 50th Anniversary during these events. Be sure to mark your calendar and plan to join the excitement!

Watch for more details to come in the upcoming months. For any questions please contact your Provincial Simmental Association or Rae-Lee Erickson at the CSA office 403.250.7979 or [email protected]

FRIENDS OF CANADIAN SIMMENTAL FOUNDATION

The 2017 Friends of Canadian Simmental Foundation Fundraising Auction is just more than a month away. There are some really interesting donations.  Thank you to all of our donators for their generous support. If you would like the opportunity to own the donation bred heifer from Tryon Simmentals - the Frank Robblee Family, you can pre-order tickets from any Foundation Board member for $20 per ticket. The heifer being donated is a daughter of Sibelle Dirty Harry 25Z and Frank's top cow Tryon Gabi FF27U. She was bred to JNR's Philosophy on April 29th. Tickets will also be auctioned the evening of the sale. For each $20 you bid you will receive one ticket. Proceeds from the auction support scholarships, youth development and research. Proceeds from this year's sale will go directly to the National Young Canadian Simmental Program (YCSA) and our scholarship program.

Catalogs will be mailed to all active CSA members. Yours should be arriving in your mailbox soon. You can also view the catalog on the CSA website - www.simmental.com, or the Friends of Canadian Simmental website at www.friendsofsimmental.com. The auction includes art work, coin collections, unique genetics, children toys, marketing opportunities and more.
