Week of November 29
From the PTA President...

Welcome back! I hope you had a restful and enjoyable week off. We all know these three weeks in December go by quickly, so hang on!

Do you know what an SBISD Good Neighbor is? Well, both the CSA PTA and the school are Good Neighbors for 2020! You can read more here.

The PTA Reflections is an opportunity for students across the country to showcase their artistic side. This year we had 20 students submit either literature or visual-arts pieces for the contest with the theme of “I Matter Because.” A HUGE thank you to Mrs. Pena, CSA Art teacher, for taking this on. We are proud to announce that four entries advanced to the district level contest. CONGRATS to Sarah Franquiz, Madison Stone, and Hayden Pettit for their artwork and to Kacey Harvin for her poem. We are so proud of these students!

Don’t forget to use Amazon Smile when buying any gifts from Amazon for the holidays, or really when buying anything!

Looking for a way to say thank you and support our SBISD Transportation staff? In lieu of the annual Holiday Party hosted by the Spring Branch ISD Council of PTAs, we are having a Holiday Gift Card and snack drive this year. See info below to help out these amazing workers who care for our students and have raised the "safety bar" this year.

One last thing, please send a note of encouragement or thanks, or a small gift to your adopted teacher between now and Dec. 18th. All teachers and staff have favorites’ pages on the PTA website. Thanks!

ATTENTION SBISD Families! Our community has the incredible opportunity to show our
district's bus drivers and transportation team how much we care and appreciate them. It is an amazing group of people who assist in taking care of our children and community daily. This year, more than just driving our children to and from school, they are helping sanitize our campuses and create a safe environment for all. Let's say THANK YOU!

Typically, our community helps support a luncheon with food and door prizes. This year is different. The plan is to hand out treat bags for every employee before the Winter Break. Fortunately, there still will be door prize drawings. Let's help build the treat bags and offer door prizes. The Transportation Department Holiday Celebration is the week of December 14-18. We will be helping bring a little joy to 300 SBISD bus drivers and Transportation Department employees.

Birthday Bash Committee Meeting
Wednesday, Dec 16, at noon via Zoom

Registration information will be sent next week.

Our chairs, Carrie McCluskey and Nicole Stone, would love for as many people as possible to help them pull off this amazing event. It is our largest fundraiser of the year, and it really is a fantastic event for our CSA families!

Staff Appreciation

The PTA Staff Appreciation Committee is busy planning an end of the year holiday lunch with gifts for our fantastic teachers and staff!  Every year, the PTA gives $25 gift cards to each staff member. Our goal is to collect 55 gift cards from Target, HEB or Amazon (those seem to be the most popular store). If there is another store that is easier for you, we will gladly accept it!!

This is not mandatory, and we understand that some of you may not be in a position to give or may have other plans for giving. That is OK!  But if you are able to contribute, please sign up here. Please drop off your gift card at the CSA front office in an envelope marked "ATTN: Anne Marie Hill/ CSA Staff Appreciation" by
December 9.  Thank you for your support. You make our teachers/staff feel very appreciated!

P.S. This can absolutely be in place of a holiday gift that you may have been planning for your adopted staff.

Does hearing and thinking about It’s Learning make you stressed and anxious? Baily Dizdar, our Transformational Learning Specialist, helped walk us through It’s Learning at the PTA meeting last week.  Here is additional information about how to set up a parent account. If you have any questions or concerns about It’s Learning or any other software programs your student is using, Baily would be happy to help. She is AMAZING!  [email protected]

All the information regarding how your purchases can give back to CSA is on the PTA Website. Check it out!

Spring Branch Education Foundation (SBEF) believes in student success. As the nonprofit organization that partners with Spring Branch ISD, we fund programs that enrich education for students across the district. Led by a volunteer board of community leaders, we raise funds through donations and community events. Thanks to a generous community, we give scholarships to a growing number of seniors each year, and we award grants for mentoring programs, classroom libraries, technology and much more.

Our board and volunteers believe in quality, public education for EVERY child; and we believe strong schools build strong communities.

Organized in 1993, we now routinely donate more than $1 million each year to the district. You can help. Together, we are Making Our Schools Better.

We have several CSA parents who are involved in the SBEF leadership, and our SBEF PTA Liaison is Jeannie Greiner. You can contact her with questions at [email protected].
