Be sure to arrive on campus by 8 a.m. to locate your testing room, which will be posted on the wall in the CSArts-SGV Central Quad. After identifying your room number, head over to check in at your assigned testing room. Students should bring the following with them to the PSAT:

Don’t forget to get plenty of sleep tonight and eat a healthy breakfast tomorrow morning. Best of luck on the PSAT!

BLOOD DRIVE

In this spooky season, what’s spookier than BLOOD? Come help us celebrate the season and make a difference at the same time! The Grateful Givers Community Service Team will be hosting a Blood Drive this coming Monday, October 17 from 1-7 p.m. in the school cafeteria. The Blood Drive will be open to students ages 16 and up, as well as family members. There is a national blood shortage and every pint donated will help save someone’s life!

If you’re interested in donating, please sign up now. Make sure to bring a form of identification that shows your birthday, such as a driver’s license, passport, Aeries screenshot, etc. Students will also need to bring a signed parent consent form. Everyone who donates will receive a gift card of their choice, t-shirt, and snack.

PAINTED PUMPKIN AUCTION

Calling all foolish mortals! You’re invited to participate in the Visual Arts Conservatory’s fourth annual Painted Pumpkin Auction. Visit the CSArts-SGV front lobby or click here to view all the stunning faux pumpkins created by Visual Arts students in a variety of styles. With 34 different pumpkins, with designs ranging from pop culture and movie references to animals and intricate paintings, there is sure to be a pumpkin for everyone!

Bidding will close at 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, October 25 on our silent auction website. If you are a winner, your pumpkin will be available for pick-up from the CSArts-SGV campus in time for the holiday festivities (winners will receive an email with specific instructions).

HALLOWEEN IS COMING

On Monday, October 31, students are welcome to wear a Halloween costume to school. We would like to share the following dos and don’ts, which can help as students plan their costumes:

Do:

  • Make sure your costume follows CSArts-SGV dress code and is school appropriate.
  • Make sure that you are identifiable to staff as a CSArts-SGV student. If your costume includes a headpiece or mask that obscures your face, you must remove it upon entry and exit from school and whenever asked by a staff member.

Don’t:

  • Bring toy guns or weapons to school. If your costume includes a replica or foam sword or staff, that is acceptable; however, please be aware that staff or administration may ask to see it and may stow it in their office if it is determined to be potentially dangerous.
  • Engage in cultural appropriation or wear a costume that makes fun of a specific religion, race, ethnicity, cultural group, or gender. True appreciation comes in the form of learning about other cultures, befriending different people, going to museums, researching, and listening to others’ stories. Dressing up for one day of the year is not an appropriate demonstration of appreciation. Please stick to make-believe costumes, such as superheroes, zombies, aliens, vampires, book characters, and all things imaginative or creative. If you would like to learn more about cultural appropriation, you can find a video resource from Teen Vogue here.

FALL SEMESTER SUCCESS STORIES

We would like to announce that State of the Art will now be updated biannually at the end of the fall and spring semester. State of the Art is CSArts-SGV’s way of celebrating the outstanding accomplishments of our students, faculty, and staff through a special webpage that features successes large and small: castings, certifications, awards, scholarships, jobs, special performances, and more. Past State of the Art accomplishments are always available to view at www.sgv.csarts.net/Accomplishments.

Please continue to submit your successes year-round through the form found at www.sgv.csarts.net/StateoftheArt. All accomplishments will be posted at the conclusion of the semester in which they were submitted. An email will also be sent out once accomplishments for the semester are available for viewing. We can’t wait to see all the exciting things you have been up to!

CARVED AT DESCANSO GARDENS

Don’t miss out on CARVED at Descanso Gardens! Limited tickets are still available to attend this annual spooktacular Halloween event on Monday, October 17 and Tuesday, October 18. All proceeds from your ticket purchase are tax deductible and will directly support the CSArts-SGV experience for our talented student artists. Time is running out, so get your tickets today!

HEALTH & SAFETY REMINDERS

Please take the time to review our COVID-19 Information page for the most current COVID-19 policies and procedures. On this page, you can also access the COVID-19 Reporting Form in order to report a positive test, symptoms, or exposure.

Free COVID-19 rapid antigen tests are available through Heluna Health to CSArts-SGV students and staff who have symptoms that correlate with active COVID-19 or who have had a known close contact with a COVID-19 positive individual. Tests will be administered in the Health Office by one of our school nurses, and results will be recorded in Primary Health, a secure online database. All students and staff should register for Primary Health using this link. Advanced notice of the need for COVID-19 testing is appreciated and can be requested by contacting the Health Office at 657.321.4000 ext. 60401 or [email protected].
