Last month, the western part of our state was devastated by Hurricane Helene. As we look towards recovery, we've put together a Disaster Recovery Resources page to help bring information to small business owners.

WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA SMALL BUSINESS INITIATIVE GRANT

Our friends at Appalachian Community Capital, supported by funds from Dogwood Health Trust, have established the Western North Carolina Small Business Initiative grant. Grant applications are now open.

 

This grant offers immediate relief grants up to $25,000 to very small businesses in Dogwood’s 18 counties that have been severely impacted by Hurricane Helene and that have less than $1 million in annual revenue.


Key Dates and Deadlines:

  • Applications are open on the ACC website
  • Apply by November 27 to be considered in Round 1 -- we encourage you to apply as soon as you can. Applicants that advance to the second round of evaluation will be contacted to provide additional information about their business.


Eligible Counties:

  • For-Profit businesses physically located in the Qualla Boundary and the following counties in Western North Carolina: Avery, Buncombe, Burke, Cherokee, Clay, Graham, Haywood, Henderson, Jackson, Macon, Madison, McDowell, Mitchell, Polk, Rutherford, Swain, Transylvania, and Yancey.


Information sessions for these grants will be held this week. Online webinars will be held on Nov. 4 at noon and Nov. 7 at 3 p.m., while a Spanish information session will be held in person at the Western Women's Business Center office in the Asheville Mall on Nov. 6 at 5:00 p.m. The Spanish seminar will also be streamed on Facebook Live.

WNC STRONG: HELENE BUSINESS RECOVERY FUND
