“Mi deh yah, yuh know” is the Jamaican phrase for “I am here.” This phrase was repeated many times over during the recent Community Service Chaplain course held at the beautiful New Testament Church of God Campsite in St. Ann, Jamaica. At the invitation of Administrative Bishop Roy Notice and coordinated by Chaplain Coordinator for Jamaica, Bishop Paul Morris, Drs. Richard and Brenda Pace facilitated the Level 1 CSC course to a dynamic group of participants. Known for its beautiful beaches, turquoise water, jerk chicken, and Blue Mountain coffee, the Paces enjoyed the warm and gracious island hospitality of the dear brothers and sisters who gathered from across the island.
In reflecting upon the course, Bishop Morris reports, “The CSC training has been like a Good Samaritan to our church community. The decision of the Church of God leaders in Jamaica to make this a part of our national strategic priority has been well-placed. Over the past year more than one hundred ministers and lay leaders have been certified in CSC Levels 1 and 2. This last training cohort trained a total of 48. We are grateful for the partnership with the Church of God Chaplains Commission and anticipate future strengthening and development of this vital arm of ministry in Jamaica.”
