We are excited to announce the 4th annual Bigelow Resident Research Competition, which will be open to any resident currently enrolled in a Canadian cardiac surgical residency program. This competition will be held in-person on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Toronto, ON. This is an official CSCS endorsed event.
There will be two categories in which residents may submit abstracts, 1) basic/translational and 2) clinical research. Residents are encouraged to submit one abstract each, in a format that will be easy to adhere to as it corresponds to CCC submission guidelines.
Please click here to review the submission specifications. Deadline for submissions is Friday, January 19, 2024.
The top-ranked abstracts in each category will be invited to present their work at the live in-person competition. The first-place winners in each category will receive a cash prize of $1,500, while the runners-up will receive a prize of $1,000. In addition, there is a CSCS fan favorite award which will be voted upon by the conference attendees.
New this year, residents are eligible for consideration for the Feindel travelling residency award. This award of up to $7,500 supports a Canadian cardiac surgical resident to spend one week at the University of Toronto under the direct mentorship of Dr. Christopher Feindel, Professor of Surgery at the University of Toronto and senior surgeon at the Peter Munk Cardiac Centre, and to observe the clinical and research activity of the adult cardiac surgery division.
