The Division of Cardiac Surgery at the University Hospital Cleveland Medical Center (UHCMC) and the Harrington Heart and Vascular Institute (HHVI) is offering clinical research fellowships to qualified candidates interested in an academic career within cardiac surgery. This is a 1 year (with possibility of extended to a second year) funded opportunity to work on important, timely and cutting-edge clinical research within the Cardiac Surgery Research Group (CSRG) in cardiac surgery and perioperative care.
The UH-HHVI cardiac surgical program is a high-volume quaternary referral center for complex, high-risk and innovative cardiac procedures. We are a fellowship training program for minimally invasive procedures such as minimally invasive CABG, mini-MV and mini-SAVR procedures as well as catheter-based procedures such as TAVR, TMVR and TEVAR.
Qualified candidates will benefit from the breadth of resources within UH and HHVI includes established clinical databases and a clinical trials enterprise. The successful clinical research fellow will be integrated within the clinical surgical team to perform high-quality data analysis of relevant cardiac surgical and cardiac critical care questions focused on novel cardiac surgical techniques, innovative technology, and strategies to optimize aortic, coronary and valvular catheter-based and minimally invasive approaches and enhancing recovery protocols and cardiac surgery perioperative care.
