Invitation to Participate in a Research Survey

Dear colleagues,

Dr. Fraser Rubens (University of Ottawa Heart Institute) and Dr. André Lamy (McMaster University) are developing a multicenter study, the COMFORT Trial, which will compare skeletonized versus non-skeletonized (pedicled) internal mammary artery harvesting during isolated first-time CABG surgery. Before finalizing the trial design, we are seeking your input on current harvesting practices and decision-making. Your anonymous responses may directly inform the COMFORT protocol.

You are being invited to participate because you are a practicing cardiac surgeon in Canada. Participation is voluntary. Completing the survey will indicate your consent to participate. The survey takes approximately 4-5 minutes.

Implied Consent Form and Survey Link: https://redcap.link/yy3daf6z

The survey will remain open until May 30, 2026.

If you have questions about the study, please contact Dr. Fraser Rubens at frubens@ottawaheart.ca. We sincerely hope you will consider contributing to this national effort. Your perspective is invaluable, and your contribution may directly shape the design of the upcoming COMFORT Trial.
