The CSCS is proud to announce the inaugural Mentor of the Year Award!
The Canadian Society of Cardiac Surgeons (CSCS) Mentor of the Year Award was created in 2025 to recognize a faculty member who has made significant contributions to the professional development of cardiac surgical trainees. Recipients of this award go above and beyond in their role as teacher, advocate and role model for their mentees.
CSCS members are invited to nominate an individual who is a CSCS member and who leads a career significantly focused on supporting trainees in cardiac surgery, namely through clinical teaching, research supervision, and career planning and advancement. While not a strict eligibility criterion, being a mentor through the CSCS Mentorship Program will be regarded favourably.
A nomination submission must include a recommendation letter (1 page max) from one or more trainees supporting the applicant and outlining their mentor-specific attributes. At least one of the nominating trainees needs to be enrolled in a Canadian cardiac surgery residency program.
The award will be presented at the CSCS Annual General Meeting (AGM). The recipient will receive a honorary plaque.
The deadline for submitting nominations is Monday August 4, 2025 at 12:00 PM noon EDT.
Please submit your nomination to the CSCS at cscs@ccs.ca.
