Gallaher Elementary School “Bat Squad” Wins Grand Prize in Philadelphia Zoo Contest

After being chosen as finalists for the Philadelphia Zoo’s UNLESS Contest aimed at habitat preservation through energy reduction, a team of Gallaher students called the “Bat Squad” was awarded the Grand Prize, which included a monetary award and a grant to further their efforts.

District Lead Nurse Karen Kleinschmidt Named a Top Nurse in Delaware
|
Christina School District Lead Nurse Karen Kleinschmidt, RN, NCSN, M.Ed., has been recognized as a Delaware Top Nurse by Delaware Today Magazine. She was nominated in the public health category, and was selected by vote in a survey conducted by the Delaware Nurses Association (DNA) and Delaware Today.

Parents as Teachers Program Receives Governor’s Proclamation Making May 9 Parents as Teachers Day

Governor Carney officially declared May 9 as Parents as Teachers Day in Delaware, a special recognition for the work of Parents as Teachers programs throughout Delaware in providing parenting education for the state’s young mothers and fathers.

Nurse Appreciation Week in Christina Includes a Presentation of Innovative Models

During Nurse Appreciation Week in May, Christina School District Lead Nurse Karen Kleinschmidt, RN, NCSN, M.Ed., was invited by Superintendent Richard Gregg to present some of the District’s innovative nursing ideas to the Christina Board of Education. She presented to the Board two innovative models used by Christina school nurses to support the educational needs and the safety requirements of students.

Student Manual Community Forum May 29

All members of the Christina community are invited to attend a community forum designed to gather input on the Student Manual from students, parents, teachers, and staff for the 2018-2019 school year.
The Community Forum will be held at Bancroft Elementary School, 700 N. Lombard St., Wilmington, DE on Tuesday, May 29 at 5:30 p.m.
