CSDS looks forward to our next in-person, vaccine only and face mask required (new!) dance on Saturday, August 21st, at the Municipal Arts Center, from 7-10 pm. We welcome back Gaia Read and Ilon Weeldreyer as our instructors/Djs for the evening! Here are the details:
Schedule:
7:00 - 7:45 pm: Lesson, West Coast Swing
7:45 - 10:00 pm: Social Dancing
Face Mask Requirement (New!):
CDC Guidelines recommend fully vaccinated individuals wear masks to indoor events in areas of substantial and high transmission. CSDS has attendees from throughout Central Virginia, including areas currently listed by the CDC as areas of high transmission. Based on CDC guidelines and emerging evidence that fully vaccinated individuals can spread and contract the COVID-19 Delta variant, CSDS is now requiring all participants to wear masks. Masks must be worn for the entirety of the event, fully covering both nose and mouth.
Vaccine Verification:
Submit one-time proof of your covid-19 vaccination by emailing CSDS. We recommend covering up any personal information on the vaccination card other than your full name. The CSDS Board believes vaccination is a key part to returning to social dancing and our entire Board has been vaccinated. The Charlottesville COVID vaccination center now takes walk-ins at certain times; you can schedule your appointment here.
Attendance Limit:
The MAC has an occupancy limit so make sure to secure your spot by emailing CSDS ([email protected]) ASAP!! We will maintain a Waiting List if needed.

- $5 Students with ID
- $5 CSDS Members with August Birthdays
- Children 17 & Under are Free
- Save time by paying in advance via PayPal (send to [email protected]), or you can pay on site.
- Bottled water will be available; you are welcome to bring your own snacks and non-alcoholic beverages.

CSDS Members with August birthdays will enjoy $5 admission to our dance this month! Happy birthday to Jared Barber, Scott Crawford, Cynthia Early, Al Lundgren, Marvin Thompson and Christina Westerlund. If we've missed your birthday, let us know!
Code of Conduct:
CSDS has an updated Code of Conduct. All CSDS attendees are expected to be familiar with and abide by it. We will have printed copies for your review.

Robert Royston Workshop Weekend (August 13th-14th)
As Swing Fling has been cancelled, the Dance Jam Productions team now has Champion Robert Royston coming to Hollywood Ballroom (MD) for a weekend of daytime workshops and two evenings of social dancing! CSDS is helping to organize our dancers who are interested in attending (see our Facebook event); all the details and registration are found here!
Swing Swap Resumes September 7th!
Swing Swap moves to TUESDAYS, 7:30-9 pm, $5 admission! For the month of September, we'll be at The Dance Spot. There's free parking around the Downtown Mall and the first hour is free in the Water Street Parking Garage. Requirements: vaccine only/verification, face masks and advanced registration (email CSDS up to a week in advance and arrive by 7:40 pm or forfeit your spot!).
Membership Renewal ~ Only $5 thru September 2021
Take advantage of this low fee to renew your membership (or rejoin!), and support CSDS. Even if your membership doesn't expire anytime soon, another year will simply be added to the expiration date of your current membership. To renew your membership at the newly reduced fee, please visit the CSDS website. If you have any questions regarding the status of your membership, please contact CSDS.
