CSDS
looks forward to seeing everyone at our next dance on Saturday, August 18th, at the Ivy Creek United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. We are *thrilled* to welcome the dancers of DC RolePlay to Charlottesville, some for their first visit! DC RolePlay creates innovative West Coast Swing dance routines that emphasize leader-follower role switching regardless of gender; they will teach the pre-dance lesson (Beginner West Coast Swing) from 7-8 pm, included in your admission. Team member Kelli Kilgore will be our DJ for the evening. A regular DJ on the DC circuit, we look forward to having her back to spin the tunes from 8-11 pm with our Westie Power Hour, all WCS music, from 10-11 pm!

- Children Under 16 are Free! (childcare not provided)

July Dance Recap
We had a great turnout for our July dance; Eddie + Adela taught a Beginner WCS lesson to a packed room and then DJ'd the dance. Katie Bigelow ran our For Fun Jack & Jill contest; we had 5 judges and 8 couples who danced to 2 songs with the second song having a fun twist, each partner had to hold on to a stretchy band while dancing! Scott Brandt and Rachel Holdren came out as the winning couple in a very strong field! Everyone who participated, including our Judges, received a goodie bag and the winners also got some CSDS swag. We can't wait to do this again! Special thanks to Dan Sweet for coming down from NoVA to be with us and take pictures!

Adela is often the Table/Group Dinner Organizer for events attended by "C-ville Westies" (and Central VA) dancers ~ if you're planning to go to any of these or other events, let her know! And reserve your hotel room ASAP as the event hotels usually sell out well in advance; you can always cancel it later. Don't wait until you decide to go to book your room; it will be too late!
Gaia Read often organizes roadtrips from Charlottesville for the DC/MD/NoVA dances/events; contact her if you're interested in carpooling sometime.
