Swing Swap Summer Schedule

Swing Swap is cancelled on Thursday, June 6th and on June 13th, moves back to The (Senior) Center for the summer. Here is the weekly schedule: 

6:30-7:30 pm:  West Coast Swing Lesson with Kevin

  - $10 for non-Center Members

  - Free for Center Members

7:30-9:00 pm:  Dancing (Free!)

HELPERS WANTED!

Would you enjoy free admission to a CSDS dance? CSDS is a non-profit organization and is 100% run by volunteers. It "takes a village" to host a dance. Volunteer Coordinator Kristin Wenger is collecting names of CSDS members who would be willing to help out from time to time in exchange for free admission. We need helpers to sit at the registration desk, clean up, or help with the snack table.  Let her know if you are interested, or reply to this post.

Competition Round Up!

Last month, some C-ville Westies attended the 25th Grand Nationals dance event in Atlanta, GA over the Memorial Day holiday weekend. Grand Nationals is a fun swing and shag event, and does a great job combining the two dance styles in weekend of social dancing, workshops, special performances, Intensives and of course, competition.

Two of our local dancers, Alyssa Gillespie and Jacen Northcutt, competed choreographed routines in their respective divisions, Showcase and Young Adult. We are so proud of them, their hard work and their accomplishments! Congratulations to Alyssa and her partner, Rob Glover, who came in 4th Place and Jacen and his partner, Taylor Garrish, who came in 3rd Place!

May Dance Recap

Thanks everyone for attending the May dance with guest instructors/DJs Margie Tuttle and Jung Choe from Maryland! Margie and Jung taught a fun lesson and kept the dance floor going all night with their fantastic music. Special thanks to Kristin Wenger for hosting Margie and Jung in her home where they also gave private lessons to some lucky local dancers. If you missed the dance, you also missed their dance demo! We look forward to having Margie and Jung back sometime soon; in the meantime, you can catch them dancing and teaching in the DC area. Check out their Facebook page to see where you can find them.
