Our next dance is Saturday, October 21st and we'll be at Ivy Creek United Methodist Church. Lynchburg instructor Jason Donahoo returns to teach the lesson and be our DJ! We're having a Halloween Costume Contest (optional) too, with prizes, and can't wait to see everyone's costumes!!

SCHEDULE:

7-8 pm: Lesson, West Coast Swing (Intermediate Level)

• Description: True anchored, teaching a left side pass with an over-rotated anchor into a left side inside roll. Playing with different versions of natural anchors to ultimately create more momentum and stretch for more advanced versions of basic patterns.

8-11 pm: Dance

We request our attendees to please refrain from wearing perfume/cologne and other scented products, in consideration of those who have scent/chemical allergies. Thank you.

In the event of inclement weather and/or there is a schedule change or cancellation, we will make a post on our public Facebook page (you don't have to have an account) by 2 pm ET the day of the dance and if time permits, our website will be updated and an email sent out.

Board of Directors Election

CSDS will conduct our annual General Membership Meeting and Board of Directors Election at our October 21st dance! We have several vacant Director positions; if you are interested in filling one of these vacancies to serve on the Board, let our Nominating Committee Chair (Kelly Ceppa) know so you can learn more about the roles and responsibilities of being a Director! You can nominate someone including yourself!

CSDS Membership

CSDS offers an annual membership for $15. Membership dues help to support CSDS and is completely optional for attending our events. Members do get to enjoy discounts to CSDS dances. To become a member or to renew your membership, please visit the CSDS website or take care of this in person at a CSDS dance. If you have any questions regarding the status of your membership, please contact CSDS.

Code of Conduct

CSDS has a Code of Conduct. Attendees are expected to be familiar with and abide by it at all CSDS sponsored events.

Swing Swap

CSDS' weekly Thursday Swing Swap continues this month with great tunes to have you groovin', a boomin' sound system and hardwood to get your spin on, all at the MAC (Municipal Arts Center), 7-8:30 pm! Swing Swap Coordinator Vic Gregor and other volunteers alternate hosting/DJing duties (thank you!). Come on out and practice, swap ideas and moves or just dance. We're beginner friendly and practice friendly! Admission is a suggested donation of $3-$5 (cash/check only). Location: 1119 5th St. SW (across 5th Street from Wegman's).

Group Classes

Currently being offered through County Parks & Rec, taught by Kristin Wenger. You can register for classes in West Coast Swing and Country 2-Step, here. Also check out our other qualified instructors, local/regional regular dance offerings and studios/groups for more opportunities to #gettoclass!
