The Albany Community Trust received a 2018 Community Supported Enterprise Grant to rehabilitate and re-open the Albany General Store.

At the Preservation Trust, we believe that gathering places that are owned, operated and frequented by community members can help reinvigorate our historic small towns and keep rural Vermont vital. 

The purpose of the Community Supported Enterprise Grant Fund is to assist municipalities and non-profits in the six northern counties in development of community and nonprofit-supported village stores, cafes, and restaurants/pubs in small downtowns.

PTV's Community Supported Enterprise program is made possible by a generous grant from the Northern Border Regional Commission. 
 
What is an eligible project?
For the purposes of this grant program, a CSE is a general store, café, restaurant or pub, owned by an eligible local entity (i.e. municipality or non-profit), and operated by a local proprietor. Eligible activities include the purchase of equipment and construction.
 
When are applications due?
Applications are due by 5:00 pm on Friday, April 12, 2019.

Past Awards
Grants totaling $169,600 were awarded in 2018 to three non-profits to assist with the development and improvement of community supported stores, cafes, and restaurants.
 
The 2018 CSE grants will help fund the purchase of equipment for the Peacham Café ($4,400) and the Lamoille Housing Partnership community supported restaurant, The Scale House ($65,500). A grant to the Albany Community Trust will help fund the rehabilitation and reopening of the Albany General Store ($100,000).
