CSF Applauds the Confirmation of MacGregor to Serve as Deputy Secretary of the Interior
February 26, 2020 (WASHINGTON, D.C.)  - Yesterday, the Senate voted in a strong bipartisan fashion to confirm Ms. Kate MacGregor to serve as the next Deputy Secretary of the Department of the Interior on a vote of 58-38.

Prior to yesterday's vote, MacGregor passed the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee (Committee) on a bipartisan vote on two different occasions. MacGregor's nomination originally passed the Committee in late November, but she had to be nominated for a second time as the Senate failed to hold a floor final as a result of an unfavorable legislative calendar in December. In advance of the Committee's votes, the Congressional Sportsmen's Foundation (CSF) worked diligently to build strong bipartisan support for her nomination. CSF sent numerous alerts and support letters to the Committee in advance of MacGregor's confirmation hearing and subsequent committee votes. On February 11, the Committed passed MacGregor's nomination on a bipartisan voice vote.

"The Congressional Sportsmen's Foundation applauds the actions of the Senate to confirm Ms. Kate MacGregor as the next Deputy Secretary of the Department of the Interior," said CSF President Jeff Crane. "Deputy Secretary MacGregor has consistently demonstrated her firm commitment to advancing some of the most important priorities for America's sportsmen and women throughout her time in public service. CSF is excited to work with Deputy Secretary MacGregor to further advance pro sporting-conservation policies within the Department of the Interior."

Since joining the Department of the Interior in 2017, MacGregor has served in a number of roles including Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Lands and Minerals Management and the Deputy Chief of Staff. Prior to her confirmation vote yesterday, she exercised the authority of Deputy Secretary of the Department. Prior to joining DOI, MacGregor served as a staff member on the House Natural Resources Committee for 10 years under two different Chairmen where she gained critical knowledge needed to ensure the conservation of our nation's natural resources.

Ms. MacGregor will officially be sworn in as Deputy Secretary at a future date.
