Sarah's Letter

What a wonderful week of learning at The Bayit! Our Sunday Learning Studios are really finding their rhythm, and it has been so exciting to see our students learning, creating, asking questions, and building community together.

In Jewish Cooking Lab, students made delicious kugel, which we all got to enjoy together on Tuesday! In Holiday Makerspace, Alex helped our students explore Rosh Chodesh, and we celebrated the new month by joining Rabbi Baum for Hallel. Meanwhile, in Big Jewish Questions, Marla continued to encourage our students to think deeply, share their ideas, and explore what Judaism means to them.

On Tuesday, our students continued building their Hebrew skills in their learning groups, and we were especially proud of our teenage madrichim this week! Not only did they help support our younger students, but they also stepped up as leaders, participating and sharing Divrei Torah about the weekly parsha. It is wonderful to see them taking ownership of their Jewish learning and becoming such positive role models for our children. We are so grateful for our teen leaders!

We love seeing our Bayit community grow stronger each week and look forward to all the learning, creativity, and connection still to come.

See you all next week!

This Week's Parsha

This week in Parshat Noach, after the flood, Noah sends out two different birds to discover whether the waters have receded. First, he sends a raven, which flies back and forth. Then he sends a dove, which eventually returns with an olive leaf, a sign that new life is beginning to grow.

Our tradition invites us to think about these two birds as representing different ways of moving through the world. The raven flies back and forth, while the dove brings back something that offers hope for the future.

What a beautiful lesson for our children! When we look at the world around us, do we simply notice what is wrong, or do we look for signs of hope and opportunities to make things better?

Like the dove, we can each bring a little hope into the world through kindness, friendship, and the choices we make every day. Sometimes even the smallest gesture can be someone else's olive leaf.

Talk About It as a Family: If you could bring an "olive leaf" of hope or kindness to someone this week, what would you do?
