CSL - Appearing in Different Shapes and Sizes
CSL's Family Stability Initiative, a high-intensity case management program, with a goal of keeping kids stably enrolled in their neighborhood school the entire school year, has largely been based in an office setting, with home visits sprinkled in. That model has worked well, and we will continue to operate in that fashion. Starting this week, we debuted Family Stability on a new platform, and that is school-based. Our newest Family Stability Specialist is based inside of Nowlin Middle School in Independence.

Love good music? You won't want to miss this! The  Kansas City Metro Men's Chorus  is presenting two fantastic concerts in March - the first benefitting CSL Scholars and the second benefitting the Stone Church Neighborhood Dinner. The first concert will be on Sunday, March 3rd, 4:00 p.m. at St. Mark's Catholic Church, Independence, and the second will be on Sunday, March 17th, 4:00 p.m. at The Stone Church, Independence.

Plan now to come out for one (or both!) of them.  There is no charge for admittance - a free-will offering will be taken.  
Saturday, August 24, 2019  marks the date for the  10th annual event presented by the Coalition of Women Helping Children. This year's  Fashion Show and Brunch  will again be  presented by St. Mary's Medical Center  and hosted at the Adam's Pointe Conference Center in Blue Springs.
On  Monday, September 23, 2019,  CSL will host the sixth annual  CSL Golf Classic presented by Central Bank , at  Winterstone Golf Course in Independence! Last year's event was a sell-out so save-the-date to join us for what promises to be a spectacular day of golf and support for CSL.
Luminous - lighting pathways to change, presented by Edward Jones is slated for Saturday, November 9, 2019 at the Intercontinental Hotel at the Plaza. Plan now to join us for a magical night celebrating Community Services League with a delicious dinner, drinks, an exclusive Live Auction and dancing to the sounds of Lost Wax.

Entrepreneurial  Mindset Training

Do you want to learn how to be an entrepreneur? Have a business idea that hasn't yet been tested in the marketplace?

CSL, in conjunction with the Ennovation Center and the City of Independence, is hosting an Entrepreneurial Mindset Training class at BlendWell Community Cafe. The class is taught by the Small Business Technology Development Center at UMKC.

This experiential learning program will expose participants to entrepreneurial thinking and skills, and help them develop develop their business idea, using a business canvas and testing assumptions with real world experience.

Applications are being accepted now, with 20 slots available. Participants must be available to meet Thursday evenings from 5:30 to 8:30 pm from March 28 - May 23. Preference is given to Independence residents. Due to generous sponsors, the cost of the class is only $75.

Deadline for applications is March 8th, and interested participants should apply here. Choose "Entrepreneurial Mindset Training in Independence" as the course.
